Default Memory Seats

Has anyone had problems with the driver seat returning to memory setting when the car is started. Mine only positions correctly once or twice out of ten times. Been to dealer twice and can't find the problem. Help.

The problem I ran into is that if you set the exit button 2 with the seat all the way back, it sometimes fails to move to the driving position ( button 1).
The work-around is not to set the seat all the back for the exit position. Move it slightly forward then save it.

Guess you can try that if you haven't.

If you have a 2017 M7 it may not return from exit to driving position unless you set the parking brake when you last exited. See this recent thread. This confounded me while driving home from the dealer (1600 miles), whence upon return I did some searching here and found that info, which seems to work. In the past I always made a habit of setting the brake if parking on any degree of grade, but not otherwise.

The car does have a tilt sensor, at least 2LT and 3LT trim levels do, which is how the lift-sensitive part of the alarm system works, so it may not require this when on a level surface. I haven't really paid much attention to a pattern but will start checking. Checking that other thread, RonC7 said "Try keeping the parking brake set until the seats move into position," which may be the reason I'm getting mixed results here.

I have an M7, and I've had the same problem. So, after reading another similar thread, I tried that. It works more often now, but sometimes it still doesn't go back to memory preset 1's position. However, when I push the button for preset 1, it always goes into position. And I do have the parking brake set. Not ideal, but functional.

I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to tell my dealer to look into it. I can't even trust them to use Mobil 1, so I don't think I want to trust those klowns poking around the electronics.

Depending on your manufacture date, there was a software update that addressed this. Fixed mine for sure. May want to ask your dealer to run your VIN and see what updates are available.

There have been a few threads regarding this issue. GM actually released a video last week addressing it. I was having the same problem as another member said, I had the exit all the way back. Apparently there is a sensor that the seat hits near the bulkhead I believe. Try resetting the exit position an inch or so forward of all the way back. Should solve your issues. It did mine.

Mine is a 2017 GS, so I guess I assumed it had the latest software. My dealer is pathetic, so maybe I'll go to another dealer and inquire. Thanks for the suggestion!
