C7 plenum cover insert
#3
Just for clarification, I purchased the Plenum OVERLAY from RPI. It was painted very well and even had the 3M tape necessary to apply it. Once I installed it, the overlay actually popped up from the OEM plenum. It almost seemed like there was not enough 3 M tape to hold it down. I later discovered the plenum overlay was slightly warped in an upward direction. When I contact Don at RPI, he recommended waiting for the temps to reach above 70 degrees before applying and to make sure you clean the OEM plenum with alcohol. I went one step further...I bought more 3M tape and applied it to the overlay. When the weather got nice enough, I applied it and then laid a terry cloth towel on top of it. I also laid 20-30lbs of hand weights on the towel to hold the overlay in place. After about 1 week (you don't have to wait this long), I removed the weights and towel and the overlay was perfectly attached. Looks great now!
Your other option is to purchase a painted OEM plenum...It costs 2-3 times as much as the overlay and is attached using the OEM screws.
