Default C7 Z51 front brakes

What the hell am I looking at here? What kind of front pads are these? Bought the car used with 7500 miles on it so I don't know the history.

Those are weights to prevent brake noise. What color is the backing plates? These are aftermarket pads. Take a look at this http://netwelding.com/Ceramic_Pads.pdf

Add extra unsprung weight which hurts ride quality and handling to eliminate noise... making consumers happy over true performance.

Found out that the original owner changed out the OEM pads to ceramic pads because he HATED the brake dust. Mystery solved.
