There's a lot of variation in speed bumps. I've seen some that a GS/Z06 would have no problems with, and others that are iffy even in a normal sedan.
Probably you have to look at both the chin of the car for impacting, and at the middle of the car for high-centering. The length of the bump/hump can made a difference also.
If you go partially around the speed bump with just one set of tires (say, the left side) going over the bump and run the other side's tires (the right side) between the bump and the curb, you should create enough clearance to clear any speed bump.
If you have a GS or Z06 can you go over speed bumps without hitting the side rocker panels?
Thanks, Mike
I had deeper side skirts (LG Motorsports Carbon Fiber) in my 2014 Z51 than the OEM Stage 2 aero package option side skirts on my Grand Sport. Can tell buy the jack pads I need. Had 2 inch high ones I used on my Z51 and 1 inch high ones work fine for the Grand Sport.
That said depends on the speed bump. There are a few I slow way down and go over a lower edge. Suggest you get out over one and check to see the clearance so you'll know when you see what you think is a high one about how much you have. Nothing is lower than the side air dames and I do hit those occationally.
2015 Z06 vert with side skirts, lowered half-way on stock bolts. I clear most speed bumps fine if I go reasonably slowly. For the really high bumps (and there are a few around where I live), very slowly at a 45 degree angle and I clear. The key is to go slow. If you go over them quickly at all your car will bounce a bit when your front tires come off the speed bump, and the underside of the car will hit. Take it slow and you will be ok.
It's the splitter you have to worry about. If you're hitting the skirts, you are bottoming out the whole car.
Found this cleaver product from AZ1 Addons. They are called Splitter Guard Washers. These steel cone washers replace the many screws on the OEM Stage 2/3 splitter undertray. Below is a pic of a few just of those I added to my Grand Sport.
They are 3/32 lower than the splitter. They also supply three larger ones for the C7. These go in the center and the ends. They are about 1/4 inch lower than the undertray.
So if you go slow and hear them scrape you back off! The company owner said NASCAR owners are buying. Their splinters scrap periodically!
Assume you're referring to the Splitter Guard Washers. Had a carbon fiber splitter on my 2014 and scrapped the bottom a few times. It's strong enough to handle a slow speed encounter with a dip. The OEM carbon fiber Stage2/3 splitter is strong enough to handle some minor abuse. If you hit a wall you're correct but the issue often is a minor scrap. I believe these will help avoid scrapping the bottom of the splitter.
Similar to the FANGs I use to cover my "Skid Pads" in my 2014 and now my Grand Sport. Hit and dented them in my C6. Hit them once or twice with the 2014 after I installed FANGs and only the HD plastic was scuffed. Doesn't protect from everything but a help for minor incidents.
