Hi I'm a Newbee here! I just purchased a 2014 Stingray convertible, the car was sitting all winter, and I believe the battery died, and when I went to get it inspected today, it failed emissions as it seems the ECU has not updated? Does anyone know haw many miles, or starts and stops are required for the computer to update? I'll say This car is a beast! I am a little bummed out as I somehow cracked the windshield lowering the roof last night, I do have glass coverage on my insurance policy, and it has HUD. I guess I will worry about one thing at a time... Any info would help..
Congratulations, you never forget your first. It's a beauty for sure, and a drop top is the way to go.
As far as the ECU I don't think the '14's ever needed any updates. The '14's other than some having problems with the info screen have been bullet proof. With the car sitting so long I'm quite sure the battery went dead somewhere along the way. Plus, the battery is (depending on the build date) going on 4 years old. I suggest you go ahead, and get a new battery for a little peace of mind. Maybe the selling dealer will chip in a little money, never know until you ask. As a matter of principal I would push the selling dealer to make the car right since it couldn't pass inspection. I'm surprised the dealer didn't have it inspected before you bought. And, IIRC it takes a 10 miles or so for it to get ready to pass emissions inspection. I could be wrong there, but if so someone will chime in with the correct info.
BTW, when you get the new windshield make sure the installing company understands the HUD requires a glass made for that feature.
Enjoy that first Vette, and ask any questions you have. We've got a great bunch of folks here with a ton of Vette knowledge.
And, don't forget to wave.

Congratulations on your new car and welcome to the forum. The problem issues will get sorted out and you'll love it more every time that you drive it, trust me.
The car passed inspection, and having the OEM glass ordered, and replaced. I have no deductible on glass too! Apparently you cannot continually hold the button from open to close, as the top really comes crashing down when closing, has anyone else had this issue? Still getting used to driving her, she is a beast! The previous owner had a short throw shifter installed, getting used to that.. and I think I need some sun screen too!

I always recommend spending some time and reviewing the owners manual. There are lots of things your car can do that the owners manual will highlight and give you some insight into.

it shouldn't crash down. I hold the button all the way up and down, no problem. Could be the hydraulic dampener. Mine is a 2016 don't know if the 2014s are different

As Fox said the top should't crash down that hard. My '07 came down harder than my C7, but still now that hard. Ask the dealer if there is any adjustment that can be made. If not, you know what to do now so it won't happen again. Happy to hear everything has worked out. Enjoy that drop top.
Congratulations it's a beauty enjoy it. As for the top mine does make a pretty good bang when it closes. However this is my first convertible so I have no means of comparison. I do hold the button down for the full cycle and other than the "firm" closing have not experienced any problems.
