I had one in my C6. The dealer wanted the car returned to stock as much as possible for the trade-in so I restored the OEM shifter and radio. Going back to stock reminded how inferior the OEM shifter was. … sold the aftermarket radio for $100. My C6 shifter was the shift mechanism only (used to be an option) and didn’t include the lower box so I ordered a new complete MGW kit for the C7. MGW gave me $100 credit for returning the old shifter. Such a Deal!

The installation is very simple – easier than the C6. While you have the tunnel open, line the area with Duramax sound & heat insulation. Added benefit: the tunnel will be lots cooler.

I really need to get on this. Install looks simple.

How is the shift action from 7 to 6? I find the stock shifter wants to go to 4th pretty frequently.

You don't. Remove the chrome ring from the boot, and just use the oval grommet that fits the stick.
Attach the boot with o-ring or plastic wire tie.
Same on my Core Shifters Hurst.

I had this in my C5 Z06 and moved it to my C7. It is one of the best I have found for a compromise of short throw and minimal shift effort.

Yea!! Had ordered it 20th & they said could be 3-4 wks to ship cause new batch had to come in from supplier/platting. Just got email saying it shipped today, can hardly wait. Not mechanically real handy but had installed side skirts, Borla X-pipe, ported TB & now this. I may have reached my limit!

For me the mechanical installation was easy. The hardest part was figuring out how to disconnect all the different electrical connectors, and with minimal room to work.

I'm not sure I know how to open the electrical connectors. I have had a difficult time on Honda And Porsche disconnecting these. The sticky does not make that part to clear

Not difficult at all. You will see a tab on the side. Pop it up and the connector will release easily.

MGW was the very first upgrade I did. I had it on my C6 and missed it terribly on my C7. I wish I had known that it was the same shifter, I would have removed it from my C6.

My advise to anyone doing the install ... shove some micro fiber towels in around the shifter while you are installing it. That way, when you slip and drop the allen wrench it wont fall down in between the sound/heat material and the body. Ask me how I know this is important.

P.s. - pic shown in long arm people mode, I switched this 180 so the shifter is back to the standard spot in the middle.

I just installed the new one I've had sitting in my garage since Christmas of 2015. It's a great mod. It'll take a little while to get used to, but it's a lot more precise than the OEM shifter.

It took about two hours, though if someone had all the tools ready to go before starting, and had taken the center console apart before, they could probably do it in an hour.

All I can say is wow!! Before the stock shifter was, imo, sloppy. I often missed gates and had to search for right gear. I'm sure that due to my noobish M7 use. But let me tell you the MGW is amazing to shift. There is no hunting for the gate, it's just there all the time. It's noticeably crisp to engage, others describe it as a rifle bolt action. I'd say that's accurate.
Anyway, I love it!
Complete agreement! The MGW flat blade shifter is an amazingly well engineered upgrade to the M7. By the time the dust settles with US exchange, shipping and taxes, you are close to $600 CAD. Still worth it!

Benefits:

1. Shorter throw, about the distance of the shift ball.
2. Precise shifts, without hunting for gate, especially 5, 6, 7. A much stiffer lateral spring likely contributes to this.
3. Unexpected benefit: because of the solidness of the revised shift linkage, you are much more aware of the notchiness disappearing as the M7 tranny warms up.
4. Appearance: I like the no nonsense look of the flat shifter and 8 ball style ****.

Funny, those are the same reasons I got the CoreShifters Hurst. And at about 1/4 the cost.
I like the retro styling of the rectangular Hurst stick and classic white ball.

You must be thinking of another car. Every connector is a little different, and if cannot see it well, it can be difficult to release.

Is there a difference in lever position between the flat blade and the stock style MGW? How does position compare to the stock shifter?

You can look at the photos on the MGW website and compare the offsets.
Here is the flat stick. Looks to me like the offset toward the rear is about the same.

My Hurst stick looks like this.

I know this is a long shot but does anyone have a MGW shifter for a C7 (will use factory ****) for sale?
