Ok, I've had the fix done last year and have noticed a great improvement in the creaky top syndrome I was experiencing. However, here's what's going on now ... after being parked in the sun for awhile (not that we've seen too much of the sun this year), for the first few miles of driving it sounds like I have a gremlin sitting on the roof (think Twilight zone) hammering away on it with a ball peen hammer. After a few miles, it goes away. Thoughts?
I had the same problem and decided to try cleaning the weather strips and lube with silicon spray. I spray it on a rag and wipe the weather strips completely and the roof noise is gone. I've had two C6s and this is my 2nd C7 coupe and all had some level of roof noise. I used to use armorall which helped some but the silicon works the best and lasts longer for me.

Hi can you post pictures of the silicone spray you use?
Thanks
i knew i was in trouble the first time i broke the seal and took the roof off, wish i had never done, creaks and pops all the time, siliconed the pins and all the seals. last maybe a day, then starts over again, never had a problem with my c6. very bloody frustratiing, and from what i had read before, "the creaking top has been fixed on the C7s s" BS.
I never thought a brand new $65k car would have this many quirks, but at almost 2,000 miles, I'm getting to the end of my checklist of fixing all factory screwups. I won't bore you with all I've done, but the creaky roof was one of the issues on my 16. Having the dealer replace the 1 piece weatherstripping running from the passenger window, under the roof and ending at the bottom of the driver glass fixed my issue. I've been testing on some rough roads and not a peep.
i wish someone would have warned me that owning a vette is very similar to owning an Alfa. Gorgeous to look at but stupid quirks that will drive you insane. At least the LT1 and M7 are overengineered and tend to be very reliable. I have so much to complain about with the fit and finish on these cars, but most modern GM V8s, which I've been around a long time, are truly great motors. Truth be told, the entire powertrain GM offers in the vette (excluding the A8 that is still a very sore subject in this corner of the internet) is second to none

I totally agree, powertrain is bullet proof, but there are small issues with fit and finish.
Am calling dealer again today and see if anything has or is being resolved on the creaking.

I have never removed the roof panel and it has never made any noise. Now that I've heard all this I'm sure I never will. Don't want to be up Shipp's Creak with a paddle shifter.

NAPA sells a product that is called Sil-Glyde that works Great! It comes in a 4 oz. tube and the Balkamp # 765-1351. Just put on the sealing surface and where your latches catch.
Me also, I love having this targa top. So much fun all year round here in Sun Diego. Never had a peep out of mine and it is on/off about once a week, run with it off most of the time.
Walleyejack, just make sure your car is not the first one your tech has changed the weatherstripping on. It's not a very complicated job, but other very annoying issues like windnoise can arise from improper installation. My tech told me he's going to keep it overnight and also adjust the driver window regulator before a roadtest as he didn't like the operation of it (regulator ended up being faulty and replaced as well, amazing how well my trunk pulldown mechanism works now and how smoothly the doors close as too much air was being trapped inside before). My trusted tech is 50 miles from my house, but so well worth the drive. Hope you have a good one too
Thank you, they have been seeling and servvucing thes cars for quite a few years, i know th s/m and he puts a tech on that knows what he is doing. First time taking my car ther but they are renowned for quality work and i know a few folks that take thier cars there. Thanks for the heads up.
