Default Switch in Targa Receiver?

Today I read the Owner Manual section about the removable targa top on our new 2017, it seems just like our previous C6.

But when I removed the top and looked into the receiver hole for the left-front pin, it looks like there is a micro-switch in there. See attached (low quality, I know) photo.
No switch in the right-front hole.

I've got the Flag Caddy from our C6 to mount a pair of US flags in those holes. Was planning to just screw plastic bolts into the C6 Flag Caddys, cut off the heads, and wrap with tape to get a press fit into the holes. That appears similar to the mounting system for the "official" C7 version, since the holes don't go all the way through like they did on the C6. But I don't want to mess up something...

EDIT:
Could the switch be for the Convertible top "Not Latched" warning, installed on all cars to simplify parts inventory but not connected on our Coupe?

There was a thread that I was reading earlier about the motion sensor button next to the hatch release. It seems that when the targa top is removed, that micro-switch disables the motion sensor so that if you park the car with the top off & a leaf or something falls into the car when locked it will not set off the alarm. A search brought up other threads about putting a wire nut in the hole to activate the motion sensor when locked.

I can't remember but is the intrusion alarm disabled if the top is left off? I vaguely recall reading that it is and if so that would be the switch for the alarm system.

On edit: CT GS got there first and he identified what I thought I remembered.

Default alarm sensor

The previous two posts are correct, there is a small (micro) switch in the driver's side hole for the coupe top attachment posts. The purpose is to disable the motion detector alarm when the top is off. Mine failed and it took my dealer 4 days to figure out what was wrong in spite of the fact that I told them I thought that might be the problem. Apparently the computer doesn't test for that. Be careful sticking things in that hole.

Better yet. Anyone figure out a good item to stick in there when you want to leave the car for a few minutes with the top down. Something not as ugly as a wire nut maybe.

A molly. Used to put in drywall when you want to put a screw in it.
