I'm having an issue with friends and contacts. Sometimes friends appear as friends and sometimes they don't. When I'm asked to invite them I never get a confirmation. Sometimes my contacts who are waze users appear as contacts, and sometimes they do not. Navigation-wise waze works nicely. I was hoping this new version would fix the inconsistencies with the friends and contacts, but so far this new download reacts the same as what I had. Maybe it has to work itself in.
Personally I think Waze sucks. I know people will give me crap about that but a few features I find invaluable in Google Maps are missing in Waze. First the road doesn't seem to be color coded for traffic. I cannot tel if traffic is starting in say 1/2 mile or 3 miles. In GM I see the orange/red road indicators. Having the stupid Waze bubbles saying there is traffic is not good.
Secondly, the show routes is horrible compare to GM! In GM when I select show routes I see an aerial view of the highways and the outline of 3 different routes. Additionally I see traffic slow downs depicted in colors. I can then choose what route I think is best. GM even says how many minutes more route B will be from route A, etc.
And the big one, when I'm driving on I-15 here in San Diego, which at times can be 5, 6 or 7 lanes wide, if a turn is coming up GM will tell me which lanes will turn off. So if I'm in the second to last right hand lane but GM shows me that the right 2 lanes exist, I don't have to worry about getting into the far right lane.
Plus I still see Waze's warnings of a car on the shoulder or a cop in sight to be extremely advisory and often just a false alarm, which does nobody any good. And those silly sounds (chirping) when I'm not on the correct route are annoying. Hey maybe I'm just stopping off at a 7-11 to get a drink - shut up already! I know I'm not on the route. I can see no way to turn those off and they just interrupt my podcast or song playing.
I guess if I could actually report these things to the Waze beta team I would continue to test for them but they continue to ignore me so screw them.
Hey Waze/Centercode or whatever, you never get a second chance to make a first impression!
My experience with the Waze Beta has not been entirely successful. While I did see the "arrow" to chose between "Maps and Waze" when in AA mode, and I can choose either, at some point a few days after installing the arrow went away on it's own. So I uninstalled the Beta version and reinstalled the "AA compatible " version from CF and within a day, it is gone again.... I get it it's Beta...anyone else have this happen?
Are you on the Google Maps Beta? If not perhaps, since Google Maps is probably set to auto-update, if a Google Maps non-Beta version changes it would probably overwrite the Google Maps Beta and thus cause the arrow to disappear.
I guess if I could actually report these things to the Waze ...
I know what you mean about reporting things to Waze going in one ear and out the other. I'm not a tester, but when I contact their support people asking for help, and offering a detailed description of the problem I am experiencing, which, by the way is what they ask for, all I ever get is a generic response that remotely addresses my concern. Never an answer, though.
