I am in the exact same boat and to clarify something this is happening AFTER you get the car. I also did a museum delivery and the car was perfect. After around 900 miles this started to happen. Same exact spot at mine, just feeling around to see the best options with minimal headache if possible. If the new facial from factory is true then that would be perfect.

Default Look what showed it's ugly head.

Was a car show 2 weeks ago and a first time Corvette buyer showed with a Black Rose coupe, the orange peel was so bad on the rear fender that it was almost running.looks like guality has gotten worse closer to the plant shutting down.

I had the same issue on my rear spoiler, covered under Warrenty. Repainted now looks perfect. Tech told me they forgot to put the screws on the passenger side of the spoiler! Now I wonder what else they forgot to fasten down!

Hard to believe GM would replace the bumper cover when its a fit issue and not a defective bumper cover. Its even harder to believe GM would ever ship a painted bumper cover. Painted new GM bumper covers from GM parts division just are not available.

I would never want a replaced front upper bumper ever or repainted parts on a factory original Corvette!

I had this happen on my 2014 after about 1500 miles and the dealer fixed it without replacing the facia or using a toothpick, it look like new after they fixed it under warranty.

Don't use a toothpick and touch up paint let the dealer fix it.

How is a new factory painted front fascia panel different that the panel that came originally with the car? Especially since this is a paint adhesion problem and not a wear problem.

My new factory painted panel was shipped from the factory and installed this past Monday. I much prefer this to a touch up since the paint could flake off again or in some other spot.

Where talking less than a 1/4 inch worth I would be worried about more damage from the dealer taking the car apart to replace the front fascia!

I think I told you that when I posted on your threat that my car had the same thing and the dealer fixed it without replacing any parts. Can I say I told you so now?

Something went wrong with the process on the old panel. Maybe bad prep or not enough cure. If the new panel doesn't have those issues then it should not flake off.

The dealer body shop fixed mine as well, and it looked great, BUT, my concern is that if there is poor paint/bonding/prep/whatever in that area, what other areas of the fascia are bad and will degrade in the future? That's why I'm having the original replaced with a new factory painted fascia. And if that one goes bad, i'll have another one installed.

Just my .02.

"Indeed, says Spande, that facility is at the moment “the oldest operational GM paintshop in North America”. But, he adds, during its lifetime the vehicle has gone through “four generations” of its own, and given that GM cannot countenance any interruption to vehicle production, retrofitting the old paintshop to meet today’s requirements was not feasible."

Enough said!

Obviously not.

Gad! It's NOT a paint issue, its a FITMENT issue. The panels are too close to each other. The paint problem is collateral damage.
