This new rash of convertible top issues is interesting. For a long while, there were virtually no reports of issues, and my '14 has been flawless. It's up and down constantly.
Software is constantly being tweaked everywhere it's used, and it's not unusual for new software version to have unforeseen bugs. How many times have you seen a new software release for your smart phone, only to be followed shortly thereafter by versions X.1 and then X.1.1.

Almost enough times to not get the update!
My '14 has also been flawless and that's even with the SmartTop product in the system.
Any other '16s having this issue or was it just a corrupt program in the car?

I have had a few instances where my top failed to operate. I think it is the switch. I can usually reverse gthe toggle and then it will work. it's not often and fi have so far considered it operator error. I cycle the top at least 4 times a day, every time I drive it--daily.

Regarding the mentioned top TSB.... could you get a reference number of it or a copy of the text from your SM.... wondering what years the TSB applies to and of course, does it still "slam" against the windshield on the way down..... LK

I asked about the TSB and was told it is actually just a tech note that will pop up when they ask the system about top problems. So nothing to post.
Good news is after a month back home, it is still performing flawlessly.
