The navigation system works good, Apple Car play's navigation is tied to your phone with reception limitations. The PDR is nice with many functions, however in reality most people use it as a dash cam. The PDR added one thousand dollars to the navigation system.
Obviously the PDR is useful for the track, and can be used as a dashcam, but it also is used when you put the car in valet mode. When in valet mode, if the car is moved the PDR comes on and records. This is useful if your valet starts taking your vette for a joyride or gunning it.
If the PDR functioned as a dash cam, then it would be a good idea. As it is, it is a poor dash cam and if one does not track the car, it is not worth the money at all. I have it because I wanted the Nav and I am happy with the Nav.
It works as a great data logger and video tool for the track. Some people might use it on the street. If you don't want it don't get it. However, looking only at your self during the purchase process may not be the correct thing to do. Secondary purchasers of these cars will consist of more people who track their car who are looking to move up at a lower price than buying new. When you don't have the PDR in your car those people take it off the list of used cars to consider thus you reduce the potential resale market of your car.
Should have said I don't see tracking the car.
Can't see valeting the car often, close to never.
Could come in handy if getting serviced.
Nav on my phone is fine and $1800 in my pocket seems better.
Appreciate the comments.

Like you Steve I would like to have the Nav system. But, the extra 1000 bucks for something I know would be of no use to me is to excessive. So for the want of more money GM lost the profit on their Nav system.

Now that I have a much better understanding of how Android Auto works I really don't see the need for an in-dash GPS system. The PDR, while cool, is really is just a toy unless you track the car. I don't track the car and although it is really neat to use/watch sometimes the money they charge for that combination is just too much.

It's not easy to find one without nav and PDR in my area. The instock ones are usually loaded up. I plan on ordering one without either of these options.
