Default iPhone 7+

I really like compartment behind the infotainment screen. Anyone have any good ways to easily place an iPhone 7+ and the charging cord in there? Always seems like a pain and I just have to stuff it in there, hoping it doesn’t catch the screen as it closes.

Also, do the usb outlets under the armrest also provide data/CarPlay connectivity like the screen compartment USB port?

The armrest ports do allow Car Play/Android Auto connectivity. I keep an iPod in the cubby. I just coil the cable tightly and place the iPod on top. No problems so far.

That’s probably what I will do then and keep the cubby for other items I want out of site. Love that spot lol!

Somewhat related, I have been going through settings and maybe missed it, can I keep music from automatically playing? I turned the start up volume all the way down but would simply prefer music not start at all unless I do it.

I have one of the shelves in my cubby behind the screen, once you do that the 7+ is not an option behind there. So I keep mine in the armrest. It did work there before the shelf, but it had to be at an angle.

Need to be a little careful in the armrest about pinching cables when closing it though.

I've been using this in-car/Phone set-up for a year, and absolutely love it. I always use Waze 99% of the time to avoid the near constant heavy traffic jams.

I use the Pearl phone mount (magnetic), on the center vent. Phone back rests perfectly on mag mount and against the upper ledge of the center screen, so no phone movement whatsoever. The jaws of the Pearl have a push-button clamp which secures it to the vent fins firmly. Press and release Pearl jaws button to insert and clamp and press button to release remove, but I just leave the mount there because it's so stealthy and small. The center vent is still functional, and can be opened and closed.

I ran a long cable from the center console USB, hidden between the carpet and center console edge to just under the lower dash. Lid closes easily and cable exit is hidden by the seat back. The cable is invisible except the end when plugged in and largely hidden behind the steering wheel, but it doesn't always have to be plugged in.

It's in a better line-of-sight than the center screen, and phone is as useable as the car's touch screen.

From day one I have used the armrest port.

I tried to store mine behind the radio, but it doesn't fit well. I place mine in the armrest. USB port charges and connects the phone to the car. I don't like the vent mount, seems like you lose the direct air flow from the A/C, which is must have for me.

Rubiland,

You do not lose direct air flow from the center vent. Look at the picture. If anything, it creates a wind tunnel effect which pushes more air directly toward the driver.

In fact, mine is usually too cold, and I end up turning it down even when it's 100º like it was last week.

I also use the armrest and a short cord for my 7plus.
