There is a difference. Those Corvettes we bottom breathers (had both) and the air intake was from below the bumper. Didn't take much of a water level to get water into the intake. In fact if you drove fast the air intake would act like a scoop and help it get to the engine!

The C7 is a side breather! The air filter is located in a space behind the passenger side engine panel in between the inner fender well. It is high on the fender but the lower edge of the filter is about 8 to 10 inches from the ground.

Perhaps consider airbags so you can get a little lift when you need it?

Or just get a Jeep. I can park all day in a good 2 feet of water and stay dry inside.

There are lots of weather forecasting services; if you have other cars why not use them if there is any kind of chance for rain?
You understand, Going slow may be worse. Think about it like this, if you push your bumper in water, it makes an air pocket behind. If you go slow, the water will fill in behind and no pocket.

As far as not driving in chance of rain, that would mean never drive. I live in Florida.

This is definitely NOT a car to wade through any standing water, turn around & go the other way

Take it up to ~130 and just hydroplane over the water.
