Installed this cue ball last night, took about 10 minutes and I know nothing about changing stuff etc.
purchased this off ebay, forum member SCCARACER46, a pleasure to deal with item as described and fast shipping. He also went out of his to explain install better than the instructions provided

Yep, got plenty of those, and that's next up. I haven't even received the new shift **** yet so wasn't trying all that hard. I was just trying the 1/4 turn w/ thumb and forefinger.

Mine seemed really tight, but with just a little extra above what I could do with fingers, it turned.
Does your new **** us the same collar?
When I took mine off the boot came loose from the ring. It was actually stapled to the plastic ring.
My shifter came with its own grommet, so no big deal.
Oh, and be sure you are turning it the right direction...

yes they are turning it counter clockwise, little more muscle maybe.
mine was stapled also, i put a rubber o ring on it when back together. nice n tight, hasn t moved.
Thanks. Yes, it was a piece of cake. Once I put the channel locks with a microfiber towel around the ring it turned and dropped immediately with no damage to the ring. The boot stayed attached to the ring.
The #20 Torx screw which some have said was a bear to get out was not. I used a Torx bit in a small ratchet and it released immediately.
10 minutes later, and my new TWM Performance, brushed billet, solid aluminum, weighted shift **** is in place. It weighs 1.32 lbs., and height is adjustable. I have it considerably lower than the stock shifter for a shorter throw.
I haven't test-driven, but did test shifts in the garage, and it seems like a lot less effort with the shorter throw and weighted shifter. I think it's a nice compliment to, and matches, the brushed aluminum on the console.
It's this one, and weighs 600 grams or 1.32 lbs. I don't know if it's a shorter throw than an MGW, never driven one, but it's definitely a significantly shorter throw than the stock shifter w/ stock ****. It's close to 1" lower, and I measured first.
The adjustable height feature is nice, and I could even go lower, but thought I'd test it here first. I like the stock shifter, so decided to go this route.
Oh, BTW, in the link above, it doesn't show availability for the C7, but when I called them, they said they would make one for the C7. The collar, which the **** screws on, fits perfectly on the shifter shaft and is tightened w/ 3 allen screws.

Guaranteed for life.... can't beat that!
So, is it about 4 inches from the console?

It's quite a bit lower than yours right now, but could be adjusted much higher with the collar design that can be tightened almost anywhere on the OEM shaft. I tried to duplicate your picture.
I did test drive it tonight, and the shifts are very precise with a much shorter throw and a resultant less effort. The weighted **** does make a difference, and the shorter shifts make me happier.
