It's optional on 1LT and 2LT, but standard on 3LT. Either way, you have to pay more for it.

I can almost see "Improving Performance" in a variety of ways beyond the track: Routine trips for better (or faster) routes if needed, or maybe improving your techniques in general for the 7-speed.

No. But it's fun to have and know you have it if you want it. Especially to record something on the fly. Pretty cool.
if you track the car? Many in here have said there are other options for less that do more and more accurate.
weighing options, would be low now that Apple car play and around auto cover nav duties imo.
but if you get 3LT or LZ it's standard so moot point (as others have stated).
