New ('17) C7 or modify a C6?
But I get the intangibles from making one your own for the indefinite future and as long as you intend to keep it (because we know, improvements/mods RARELY yield a dime)....well, that's a tough one

I bought my 2004 C5 the same year you bought your C6. Two years later, I looked at moving up to a used C6. It was a beautiful car, the dealer (Hendrick) made a very good offer but I just couldn't bring myself to make the deal. I had the same feeling you did about the C7, very nice car, but not worth the difference. Add another year, late 2015, I tested a C7. Instantly I knew that I would own a C7. Maybe not that car, but I would own one. Within three months I made that move.
My point is, if the C7 didn't grab you, didn't make you a believer right away, then you made the right decision, stay with your C6 until another car makes you feel you have to have it.

1.) C2
2.) C7
3.) C1
4.) C3
5.) C6
6.) C5
7.) C4
Of course we also need to remember that all Corvettes are wonderful and special machines and that every one of them deserves our love.
The drive home from the dealership cemented the decision for me. I like and respect the C7 but I feel more "at home" in my poor old C6. It is something intangible but has a lot to do with how the car just fits. I didn't realize that until driving both vehicles back-to-back. The little things I miss in my current car option and power wise are easily corrected thanks to great support. I can add HUD, update the sound system to better than factory new and tweak performance which are the only things wanting in my current car.
At the end of the day, I just feel much more "comfortable" in the C6 both with the ride and the interior setup than the C7 and can't explain why. As I willingly conceded, the C7 interior quality is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the C6 but the ergonomics and ride just feel better to "me". I can honestly say that, money be damned. Guess that's why Baskin Robbins made 31 flavors!
I will never "crap" on a C7 in any form, they are impressive and beautiful machines but I think I will keep my C6. Maybe until the C8 comes out....

I think if my C6 had been a 3LT and not a 1LT, I may have kept it a lot longer than I did.
I'd love to hear about the mods you decide to do.
