I looked into the coating but just ended up getting the 3M paint protection film installed. I use the hydrophobic spray from mcguiars to clean my vette and water beads off the same as with the ceramic coating.......not completely sold on the coating idea yet....
Just finished the Adams Ceramic on the whole car plus the wheels, I have 3M on the front.
The process was easy to do, you will have to wait 24-48 hrs for the ceramic to set up. It is hot here and humid but mine set pretty fast considering.
Car shines very nice, waiting to see how the first wash goes.
Put Adams on during the Christmas break. I've been very pleased with the shine and durability and lack of swirl marks. I typically put a coat of something on my vette once a month and twice yearly on the SUV's. The vette gets washed each week. Im sure there are lots of opinions.
Just put CQuartz UK on this weekend, the difference is night and day. I did the blackfire wet diamond thing before, and was really surprised how much better it is. The best part is the wheels are super easy to clean now.
My 2 Cents: I purchased a sealer.Sent it back.Few reasons why. I didn't want the aftermath.Coating doesn't last forever. It has to be removed before reapplying. That can be expensive and will remove some of your clear coat.If you keep waxing and washing that 2 may require some maintenance if your not properly washing and drying.Hmm,So no gain with sealer. The Good:Just rinse and blow dry.For how long??
Will it harm your Factory Stripes(if you have any). Some sealer's mess with protective films.Depending on their chemical make up.What to use with what? Now this goes back to a installer.
I was going to apply the sealer myself, so didn't want to take a chance.Or pay big bucks and put the burden on the installer, again.
Think about the body on the C7.It has vents and louvers.According to what i have read:This coating Cracks. What is that gonna look like in the vents and louvers. Now remove the coating in these area's.
It is a New Great Idea.Until re-coat time.Need time to see the possible issue's in these area's.The car has only been here say 4yrs.Time will Tell All.
I just used P21 Wax is looks MARVELOUS...How long will it last?
There's no need to go through a special removal process for ceramics. You just polish the car, just like you'd occasionally do a thorough polish on an uncoated car.
When you do get swirls in a coated car, they are often only in the coating layer. They can usually easily be removed by with a light polish, but when you do that you are removing coating. I just pretend the coating is not there, and spot polish as necessary. That works out well.
The bottom line is that the ceramic coating makes care a lot easier, and going without just requires more work. Your choice . . .
