The panels are aligned correctly, a misalignment isn't causing the problem. The build up of paint is the problem, and makes the gap smaller.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
Ron, look at pic #2 that I posted of the close-up shot, perhaps it's poor prep combined with paint build-up. To me, if the edges were prepped properly, paint wouldn't "flake", it would merely rub/wear. Mike told me it has been a vendor prep issue, but perhaps a combo, I dunno? I'm pleased you and I both received new fascias and not the dealer painting direction so many others have had done! Cheers, -Garry

Looks like a combo, unfortunately, without seeing the edge before the paint chipped off, it's hard to tell. (Like I said, I could be wrong )

So looking at it holistically, something is causing either buildup>chipping/flaking or straight to chipping/flaking. Either way, it's a problem.

Glad your car is fixed, and thanks again to Mike for being so integral in getting this taken care of for both of us.

Some pics showing the dreaded paint defect that so many of us have seen between the bumper fascia and the front fenders. This is not a gap problem, but a prep defect prior to paint from the supplier who GM sourced for the bumper fascia.

Here is the original defect from poor prep.

And the finished product, all factory parts installed!

GM should take these photos ...enlarge them to full size ..and them post them at the factory in Kentucky for all those overpaid workers to see each day .... a disgrace !
