The box snaps over the edge of the battery on each side.
You need a flat bladed screwdriver or similar tool to slide into the slots and release the tabs.

There are posts with photos if you search website.
I will post if I find the link.

This guy has a description of how to change the battery with the above photo description'

I also suggest you go ahead and remove all the wires from the box, and completely remove it from the car... Anything you can get out of the way will make it easier to get battery out of the well..

To keep from tearing the carpet, I went ahead and remove the side panel. Here are photos to show clip locations.

Thanks for posting my PDF, glad it was a help.

It has some tips, like the one you showed about removing the power board. As I note in the PDF, the folks who write these manuals at times make it obvious they have done what they state! "Remove Power Board" as it simply states in the 2014 Service Manual-doesn't help!

Another tip I have found before you access that area (which I did a number of times, including to get at the rear fuse panel) and is in the PDF, is to unclip the bottom of the plastic wheel well cover to make it easier to get the tight fitting, unbound carpet out from under. I do not remove the cover as it requires removing the upper fasteners as you did. I simple use my fingers and pull the bottom rear clip and pull the cover out a few inches while I pull out the carpet. Only takes a few seconds. If the front bottom clip comes loose, no problem as they are not the typical strong clips used for much of the C7, they simply snap back with the side of your closed hand. There is a pic in the PDF showing the clip that is about 3 inches up from the carpet. If your fingers don't get it unclipped then use a plastic trim tool or a screwdriver will work. There were posts where a dealer tech caused the carpet to rip. If needing a jump start, a AAA person will likely rip it as well! Once you see how easy it is to do, if needing a jump, just pull the carpet out yourself!

As you suggest you can remove the wires from the power board but I just placed it upside down on the carpet with a weight so it stayed put. Once the ground cable is disconnected, the first step no issue with those terminals hitting anything.

Lifting the OEM battery out of the recess can't be done simply by getting your hands underneath- no room! I bought a simple, inexpensive battery lift strap that grips the battery posts. However the posts are on the end and cause the battery to tilt. The post grip also slipped once. I did use it to put the battery on the edge of the floor, then grabbed it with my hands to lift over the spoiler & bumper.

I found that it was easier to stand beside the fender and lift the battery over the side rather than try to reach over the bumper and spoiler from the rear.

Also, remember to remove the vent tube or it will keep the battery from coming out since the other end is attached to the bottom of the battery well.

If I was stuck on the side of the road, I would just pull the bottom of the side panel out, but since I was in the garage with lots of time, I just removed the whole thing.
