Needs to be updated for GS cars. Position 5 = "Y" on mine.
Question about production sequence... is that the sequence of that exact car, or just production sequence of all GM cars... or something in between? In other words, if mine decodes down to being #22,011 in the production sequence (last numbers of VIN are 122012), does that mean that it's the 22,011th car GM produced that year or is it the 22,011th Corvette made that year? Or maybe the 22,011th 2017 Corvette GS 3LT...
Inquiring minds want to know. Or at least one inquiring mind wants to know.
There are separate VIN decoders for each year. This one is for 2017.
So, my 14 can't use the 2017 format to figure out what it is? It seems to me that this is C7 sensitive rather than year. Using the 2017 table, I can figure out what my VIN means except for the 10th character which is an E for 2014 and the production number for the specific year.

In your example, since you used the vin 122011, it would be the 22,011 Corvette that is not a Z06 (i.e. Base Z51 & GS), the Z06 has its own sequence that starts with a 6, so the 22,011 Z06 (which would never exist since they don't make more than 10,000/yr) would have a vin of 622011. Since Z06's and all other C7's go down the line together, your 22,011 would not be the #22,011 C7 made in 2017 - it would be a lower number than the total.

Yes? No?
Yes, but GM issues a new GM VIN Card each year and we have a separate thread for each year (links to each are in the Manuals, Reference Material, Online Order Guide, Order Tracking, etc. sticky thread) . Some letters/numbers were not used in some years. For example, there were no Z06's or Grand Sports in 2014, so those codes are not appropriate on a 2014 VIN Card.
That means yours was the 1,730th Z06 built for your model year (2017). It was not the 1,730th Corvette built because there were thousands of non-Z06's built before your Z06 was built.
Great info...
i drove it, my 1st time in a c7. Loved the brakes, not as torquey as my ls7 but pretty quick. Now they have others inquiring about it so i may not be able to get it...they don't seem to much interest in lowering the cost right now
10. Model year: E (2014) F (2015) G (2016) H (2017) I (2018) J (2019)
Elmer
This is not quite correct: J = 2018, K = 2019, L= 2020.
The 17 alpha-numeric code VIN was mandated starting in 1980 or 1981 and since then I've noticed the letters I and O are not used for the 10th position, probably due to the potential confusion with the numbers 1 and 0.
