Default Working on Mods

Just finished the first set of "personal " mods. I say they are personal, because I do 100% of the work myself. Besides giving me personal pride, i know when i go to car shows n one has the same mod or can say that that comes from RPI etc. I decided to create a custom white metallic paint for engine components as well as hand paint the inside hood liner C7 emblem. My next mod will be to customize the interior trunk lid.

Wow!!! Great job for sure. Looks fantastic. I painted my C5 hood liner years ago. Did not come out nearly as nice. What type of paint did you use for the liner?

I certainly admire your abilities. I see that you have red hash stripes. I think red lettering on the fuel rail covers would look fantastic.

Well the first step was to mask off the actual emblem. Making sure that every other part of the hood liner was covered. Then I sprayed the complete head liner with 6 coats of VALSPAR METALLIC EFFECT PAINT color Chrome. This insured that I covered well the entire surface, and make an excellent base for the other colors. Next i masked off all of the are that was RED in color. I did expose the two emblems. I then put 4 coats of KRYLON RED. Then i proceeded to mask off an expose only the Chevy emblem and paint 4 coats of KRYLON GOLD LEAF. Then using some gold leaf i sprayed in a cup, I painted the other emblem by hand. Then I masked off the whole hood liner except for the area of the checkered flag that was black. Then i put 4 coats of RUST-OLEUM GLOSS BLACK. Then once it was dry, I removed all of the masking material that covered the complete emblem and gave the whole emblem 6 coats of VALSPAR HIGH GLOSS LACQUER. Then I removed every bit of paper and tape, and made any minor corrections needed. The whole process took about 4 days. Most of the time was spent masking off and drying time between coats.
