C7 Road Trip Question
A friend and I are off on a 2000+ mile road trip in late September. My oil life reading is currently at 79% and my guess is that by the time I leave, will be around 65-70%. Is there any point to changing oil and filter before I leave? i would think with strictly highway driving that there would be more than adequate life left for the 2000 miles but what do folks think?

Relax.
If you were down to, say, 40%-50% right now, I'd say get it changed before the trip. Enjoy your trip....you'll be fine.

You'll be good to go. For the last 3 years we've used a C7 for a 3k+ mile road trip in the fall. Getting ready to go in a month or so. We're at 72% right now. Probably be at 40-50% when we get back. The algorithm is time and miles. Enjoy your trip - lots of fun!! Stay safe.

Getting an oil change on the road is no big deal, btw.
It will take only an hour out of your trip, provided you make an appointment. Most dealers/shops (in my experience) will take extra care to get you in and out quickly if you explain that you are on the road. You need to stop and eat anyway, and this is a good opportunity.

Oil life indicator says, as of today, I have 30% left. So, time is certainly a big factor in the algorithm. Based on my other two vehicles recommending every 7500 miles, you would think I could do the 4000 miles without an oil change. However, since it has been nine months since the last one, the algorithm factors time in to the equation.
I'm thinking I could do the 4000 miles without a change, but I'll do it anyway. The Corvette engineers are smarter than I am.
OP, where you are at on the scale, I think you are good to go. And have a great trip!

Thanks one and all. I think I'll just forget the oil change until i get back and then do it myself, as usual. For road protection, I'll put on a coat of wax and the bra, check air pressures and fluid levels and go.
