Launch Control Q
Is launch control available in the basic Tr (Track) mode? Or do you have to be in one of the PTM submodes?
If I wanted to quickly grab launch control at a light I'm wondering if I can just turn the dial to Tr or if I need to double-click and select a PTM mode.
The manual actually contradicts itself, showing it available in Tr in a chart but then in the text saying only in PTM.
Thanks,
Dave

This is coming from the Z06 M7 side. Let's say you activate launch control by selecting track mode and 2 separate pushes on the selector button, you will notice that your TC/AH lights lit up. In this case you will need to select a PTM mode, wet, dry, sport1, sport2 or track. Once your mode has been selected you can activate Launch Control if certain conditions are met. Keep in mind that you can drive around as normal in track mode>>> TC/AH lights on>>> and your PTM mode selected. It will only disengage if you press the selector button again or turn your engine off.
Now if you are at a stop light and are ready to activate launch control, simply make sure the conditions specific to your vehicle (M7/Auto) are met. In my case I would engage the clutch and ensure that the steering wheel is straight, and now I will aggressively/immediately press the gas pedal to the floor and my rpms will settle at about 4,200 RPM and once I disengage the clutch....off you go.
I can continue launch control as long as it's active at each stop light if I chose to do so, unless of course you intentionally deactivate it by pressing the mode selector button or turn your engine off.
Hope that helps.

If you have PTM, you need to be in one of those modes to access launch control. Basic Track mode doesn't give it to you.
For non-mag ride cars, there is no PTM, but they do have "Competitive Driving Mode". You get there the same way as cars with PTM: Track mode -> Double push of TC button -> "Comp mode activated" and TC/AH lights come on. The only difference is there are no selection within comp mode, it's either on or off. In the manual this is what they refer to a "being available in track mode" since there are no PTM modes to delve in to.

I assume you let off the gas when shifting. Does launch control continue after you shift? Does the manual pull to one side (I've heard right) when you shift? If it did then I would assume that PTM goes off when you shift.
Thanks,
Rob
