I found a C7 yesterday at a non brand car dealer.
Carfax has the car being sold traveled around the country between dealers numerous times.
Carfax says: No accidents.
Supposedly One Owner.
low miles.
Should I be suspicious?
Too good to be true?
if it was a GM buyback, will Carfax say so.
The salesman told me it was purchased at auction.
its a ZO6.
Thanks
Take it to a GM shop to check it out. If the car is OK, get an extended warranty. There are many to shop around. I got a GM certified also got the extended warranty for peace of mind. Great car. No regrets.
Sounds like it's been through a number of auctions. Get the VIN and have a GM dealer look it up in GMVIS, which will give you a comprehensive history of everything that's been done to the car, whether all required services have been done, and whether the warranty is still intact. However, that's just the start.
If you're interested in the car, I'd also have it inspected at a GM dealer to make sure a previous owner didn't modify the car in a way that would cause a warranty block, particularly on the powertrain. Usually, those things aren't discovered until a car experiences an engine or transmission problem.
Thanks
is it better to buy a GM ext. warranty or who??
At the Chevy dealer were I bought my car. They offer me an extended warranty from a third party. I think that's OK.
Before buying my car, I let go of a Z51 deal, the car had just 15k miles, but the car was abused, it had already 3 owners and not well cared even that the Carfax looked great. If I was you I would walk away and get one that you can trust to be a better deal, is your $ and I guess you would not like to have many headaches down the road. Good luck in your search. C7's are superb vehicles.
Thanks

I would not buy a 3rd party warranty. All too often they are really shady and are very hard to get them to pay for stuff that should be covered. On the other hand, the GMEPP shows up in the GM VIS system and any dealer can readily determine your extended warranty. They are much more reliable in paying for covered problems. You can get a good discount on GMEPP from forum vendor Denis Fichtner: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-extended.html.
If you have the dealer check it out, make sure that they check to see if it has been tuned or not. You don't want to find out after purchasing it that it has been tuned and potentially voiding any warranty that you might still have or have purchased.
Forget Carfax, it's pretty much useless. I bought a c5 some years back. Carfax looked good. 3 months later the tranny took a dump. I learned the hard way. Get the car check out by a good shop.

Can't use just carfax. It will only give indicators of reported service, accidents and owners. Need to also use gmVIS, autocheck and still have a mechanic look it over.
I saw a car fax recently on a two year old car having four owners. Not much other info on it, but seems really odd for a car to have lots of owners in a short time. It can also say if the car was bought in auction, with a little research, can get you the approximate price the dealer gave for it. It does serve a purpose even if not a complete answer.
