C7 seat solution 2017 Z51
#21
Competition seats in mine. No problems being 6'3" and 230. 150 mile trip coming up this weekend that I have done a number of times in my C4 that is very comfortable. We'll see if the 15 seats perform as well. Glad you were able to have yours fixed the way you like them.

I'm 6'1" and I find the seats in my Z51 are the most comfortable I've ever ridden in. And I've had dozens of cars.
Even my wife loves the seats..................so much so that she falls asleep within 10 minutes of a long drive.

I'm gonna agree with the op in that the seats are just plain uncomfortable.
The seats were designed to satisfy everybody who complained about the lack of lateral support in the C5/C6 seats.
I never had a problem with my legs going numb in my C6. To tell ya the truth. I liked a lot of things about my C6 better than my C7 but that could be another thread
Now even with taking my wallet out I still need to pull over every hour and a half to give my left thigh/hip a break...

I'm 5'10" and 175#, and whether or not I'm "normal" is up to conjecture, but I would suggest that I'm normal in size. I like the standard (non-GT) 2LT seats and have taken some long trips in them. No complaints. Maybe the OP has 1LT seats that are short on adjustability.

So what does that mean? I'm sure lots of people have no issue. Why I don't know because every person except my wife, who is 5 ft tall and 110 lbs. I just thought I would share with like minded individuals. I'm not here to be ridiculed. Not that I am accusing you of this.Just feels like it's heading in that direction.

So there I was finally "Making it to the beach".My way of saying,"My first new Corvette. Number 5. After spending 73 thousand dollars I found that just ten minutes in the torture chamber,AKA driver seat, had me just fuming. That seat.Oh my friggin God,That seat! Who was it designed for? Surly not a normal American male. That side bolster, the bain of my existence. After 2400 mi I was at the Caddie dealer trying to trade her away for an ATS coupe.I was unaware that if you order one they WILL put a 355 hp V6 in it and wow what a party. But the money they offered pushed me to find a proper upholsterer. It was hard.Nobody wanted to touch the beast.Money meant nothing. But I did find a sympathetic fellow and the Sterling Blue S@#t head was dropped off on 9/5/17. At lunch I got the call.Come on down and test her out, sans cover. The skilled craftsman used his skill with a turkey knife and grinder to perfection. My seat.THAT seat! Is now tamed. She is flat and soft. Thanks to the addition of 1/2" of very soft foam.Today they are removing the side tops and pin and stitching new side cover for a seamless factory look. So,all you guys, and gals, who put up this insult to the posterior.Take it no more.I don't know what the cost will be but who cares.I paid 70+k for that baby and it better deliver. I'm in the Phila. area. Thanks for listening.
I have the regular GT seats in mine and I would rate them simply as "OK."
Certainly not acceptable for long trips IMO.
I do wish GM would offer more seating choices...especially for a car aimed at an older demographic.
According to my bad back, modern Cadillacs have excellent seating.
I wish they would offer them as an option for their other vehicles.

camro offers Recaro seating, why can't Corvette? at the Corvette price point the simple option "want more foam in one recaro-type clone? that will be $1,995" is unacceptable.

Basically Recaro is overrated.

No bolster issues. My ST Recaros are a little tighter and more uncomfortable but I still fit and wouldn't say they are uncomfortable in general.

That's what happens when 2% of the people who tracked their C6, bitches, moans and groans about the C6 seats not holding them in place when they are pulling 1.3 lateral g's, with slicks on the car.
The truth is that most people(98%) never exceed 1 g on the street and would rather have a seat that is comfortable when driving on a road trip.
I occasionally exceed 1g in my C6 Z06 on the street and have no problem staying put, but I also average 450 miles a day on a 15 day road trip, where comfort is more important than pulling over 1g for a few seconds 7 or 8 times a lap on a race track for 20 minutes
If I were to make my Z06 a track car, I would install seats made expressly for that environment and not expect the seats that are designed for the streets to do that job.
Another example of the tail wagging the dog.

I agree Bob,I also miss my C6. It was also a Z51.Very fast with no modification from factory. Also better quality.Very solid with better materials.Better visibility and more room. What a road car.

This is one of endless threads which demonstrate how hopelessly impossible it is for a manufacturer to satisfy the endless plethora of customer wants and competing desires. I also thought the C6 seats and interior were embarrassments, and the overall quality was inferior in every way.
I left Corvettes in 2008, and never intended to return. Driving a C7 Z51 blew my mind at how much better it was in every way, and brought me back.

Some doopas are just to wide for the seats, in that case you need a wide body seat.

Styling of the C5 and C6's interior wasn't that bad(except for the crappy texture of the vinyl) nor were the seat's comfort(not counting after the seat frame cut into the foam due to cheap GM design of the frame, springs, and the foam, after 5 years or so).
After I had my C6 seat frame modified so it wouldn't cut into the bolster's foam and the seat bottom wires and springs covered with leather so they wouldn't cut into the bottom foam, my seats are both comfortable on long trips and hold me in place on high g corners when I'm playing around on the street. For the track, a true "race" seat would be more appropriate for the 2%, instead of screwing up the comfort of the seats on a long trip, for those that don't track their cars.

I believe that the majority wanted a new interior where the dash and door panel didn't feel like it was made from old bicycle inner tubes(as the C5 and C6's interiors did), and were not looking for "race" seats.

For the record, the seats in my C7 are far, FAR more comfortable than were the seats in my C6. I don't believe I'm alone in that, and we've done road trips in both.
