Convertible to Coupe

I suppose you could consider climate in your decision too. When the weather is nice in MN, its REALLY nice convertible weather. But if you end up in stop and go traffic very often, hot, humid weather in the vert is not the best. (But push a button and you are snug and back in AC in under 30 seconds!)

Agree, not even close.

I also like having the convertible's traditional concealed trunk for storage.
Even with the top down, there's more room than you would think.

I have had both Coupe and a Convertable as well as a hard top (04 ZO6)..... .I never drove the Convertable with the top up, but it was strictly a fun back up vehicle. Loved it, but could not take it in the summer heat here in Atlanta. Oddly I drove it 3 seasons a year, and never in the full blaze of Atlanta sun.
I drove the coupe as a DD, and it filled that role perfectly. More space, and allot stiffer. For those of you who may have had C4's the Convertable felt like it twisted when you hit the gas.
The hard top Z was the stiffest and was world's better than the C4's. But it was a little tight inside.
Personally, I love the C7 Vert with the top down. Top up, not as much.
Next one will be a Coupe, just because of practicality. If anyone outside of this forum read this they would laugh, practicality in a Corvette lol

I guess I wouldn't be on my 2nd Corvette coupe (2007 C6, 2014 C7) if I DID notice that much of a difference between the Corvette coupes and my previous convertibles, in all respects.

Haven't lost a hat or conversation yet.The added Bonus: When temps start dropping and the heated seats, hot vents are still a little chilly.
Push the button, touch nothing not even a latch. Now enjoy your secound vette.Tunes crank. Not A Caddy quite but it's a Luxury Race Car.The top doesn't make any noise..Great CAR

I have not owned a coupe, but have several friends that do. I am a convertible guy that loves the top down feel most all the time, up to 80+ degrees to as low as 50 degrees. If you have always loved a Vert, you will be unhappy with coupe. I have been told by several friends that notice the Vert is quieter than their coupe with the top up. I had a C5 Vert & the C7 Z is the best toy ever & I drive it a lot of miles. If possible find a friend with a coupe and another friend with a Vert, try them out, then you will know what is for you.Having the power top is the best of all, up or down is 18 seconds & up to 30mph.

Apples and oranges, but...
I went from a C4 roadster to a C7. I was done with the convertible top, and really wanted a coupe this time around. I don't have deep enough pockets to buy a new C7 appointed the way I want it, so I started shopping used. Finally found a low mileage 2016 3LT with about every option possible, including the Twilight Blue design package. Problem was it was a convertible. The deal was just too good to walk away, and the car was like brand new, so I made the deal July 1st.
It's been a-hundred-and-hell or raining ever since, but I was happy with the car. Finally took it to The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and got a chance to drop the top for a few hundred miles. Top down, I was shocked at the lack of turbulence and wind noise, compared to my C4. Wife and I could have a conversation at 70 without shouting at each other, no annoying buffeting that the C4 had, and Oh That Power Top! Hit the switch, and up or down in 20 seconds. No monkeying around with latches, decks nor visors.
I'm super glad I "caved" and got another vert now. Just a fortunate accident that it turned out that way, but I'm very pleased I didn't find a coupe when I was shopping used...

I've owned several convertibles, although not Corvettes.
The C7 coupe is nearly the same open air experience as a convertible. I don't miss the convertible.
Roof is a featherweight at 16 lbs and is easily removed or placed back on in about 30 seconds.
The coupe is arguably better looking, although this is subjective.
Coupe has more storage space.
...and coupe costs thousands less for those who care.

defintely conv.
Have had both (in same C versions); the coupe is sexier but the top off creates too much buffeting as the wind has no where to go but swirl around behind you and come smack you in the head, the conv. is a genuinely enjoyable open air experience..........

I have owned several Corvette Convertibles and although the top down experience is more enhanced than the top off experience in the Coupe.....it is no way as dramatically different as some state in this thread! When the top is removed on the Coupe the whole driver and passenger compartment is open to the air. To say the Corvette Coupe top removed is comparable to an open Sun Roofed car is ridiculous!
It was a figure of speech, and all I meant was what you said above, that it is a [greatly] "more enhanced" experience. We can quibble about how much, but that would be ridiculous because it's personal taste.

Tough question. I personally would probably not want to leave a fabric top outside 100% of the time over a long period, and I don't think weather-rated car covers are very effective. They trap moisture and often do more damage than good.
For a year or two, it would probably be fine if it's a black top, and if you keep a good protective coating on the fabric top, so that water stays beaded up. 303 Fabric Guard is a great product, and recommended by Sunbrella, a high-end manufacturer of fabric tops, awnings, and the like.

Jake, convertibles look great with the top down. When their top is up....not so much. The C7 coupe is almost the best of both worlds.
You don't need to dual tops either-one will do fine.

Again, purely personal taste. There's a big crowd of us who thinks the convertible looks way better than the coupe with the top up. I'd never consider a coupe just based upon looks alone. I really don't like the coupe with the top off, but it does look decent with it on.

^^^ Steve, I know you do not like the top up on a VERT but I think it looks just as good up as down but that is only my opinion and you have yours that's what makes the world go round!
