Yep, you have to pay the $500 color override option charge, which sucks but I guess it's better than not being able to get it. They knew going in that red was going to be a super popular option in Admiral Blue/the heritage color scheme considering the 96 had red seats...
No...it is not an uncharge anymore. I've configured it a few times and it is a standard color choice now. It used to be a $595 override charge but no more. I settled for black interior as a result because I didn't want to wait 4 months to order a 2017 with the special color interior. But now it is standard. And I've seen a few in inventory on some of the larger Corvette dealer's websites. I just installed red seat covers over my black seats and I'm very happy with them.

A friend of mine had a 2014 Laguna Blue with red interior. He called it his "Superman Edition" and had that little plaque on the console custom ordered that stated such.
He was about the first one in my state to purchase the new C7...this was taken October 2013.

yup well worth the $500 and GM knows it. Its really sad that GM screws buyers like this.

Read my previous post. It is no longer an override and no longer a $595 charge. Go to chevy.com and configure an Admiral Blue with Adrenaline Red interior and it is available at no extra charge. Kerbeck even had a couple in stock.

Meh, they didn't think the color combination would be popular, instituted the surcharge to make sure people ordering it really, really wanted it. (And wouldn't refuse it when it came time to take delivery.)
Then they discovered that it was more or less popular and discontinued the surcharge. If they were really trying to screw buyers they wouldn't have removed the surcharge.
They actually are being responsive to buyer demand.
