Not to be a smart *** but that's how long my driveway is (65'). You either back in or back out of any drive unless you have a turnaround. I prefer to back in than back out...
What do fire trucks do? My house is large (>10ksqft) and required sprinklers because, it turns out, the roundabout in our driveway was not big enough for ladder trucks! My neighbor had a "stub road" turnaround built instead, but I didn't want that.
Also, the USPS throws packages on the road at the front of my house instead of coming up the driveway. I don't appreciate that part!
For backing up, I don't know why the display is a concern, because shouldn't you be looking over your shoulder anyway? Mirror is not the correct approach for a long backup.

Now that sucks. Our USPO driver not only drives up the 1k plus feet of our drive, she even puts packages on the rear porch for us. Needless to say, she is taken care of at christmas.

They said a recent policy change prohibits them from backing up in residential driveways, even to turn around, because of the fear of running over a kid. I can see it, but seems very over-cautious when there's no alternative. And we give them a gift at Christmas too!
Is there a way? I'm old school, first car with a back up camera. I just can't use it most of the time. Backing into my driveway at night, in the dark, it's so damn bright inside the car, I can't see anything outside! Call me nuts, but it is what it is...lol
Okay: you're nuts....
"Old school?" I'm 76...... love the backup camera. Of course I drive my car a lot - 54K miles on my C7 - just got in from a 4700-mile road trip last night......

Our private road looks like a P. The house sits at the upper right corner. No one has to back out. I have jumped the kids for letting their friends double park in the circle part next to the house.

Glad you like it. But for me, it's pretty useless most of the time. I look back when backing up, like I've been doing for 40 years.

I would not do it. Like seatbelts, it is federally mandated. By 2018, all cars, suvs and, light trucks must have one. As such, because our cars came factory equipped with it, disabling it is a big no no, much as disabling the emissions. Worst case scenario, you are involved in a backing accident that causes bodily harm. When it is discovered the camera has been disabled, a litigation lawyer would have a field day at your expense. Why risk it !
Just go to a deserted parking lot at night and practice backing up. You’ll get used to it. No need to turn around and look back. The camera shows exactly what’s back there. And the guide lines really help.

As I remember, the main reason for requiring these cameras is back-up accidents in which drivers run over kids, who are too short to be seen when looking out the back window.
