Default Disabling back up camera

Is there a way? I'm old school, first car with a back up camera. I just can't use it most of the time. Backing into my driveway at night, in the dark, it's so damn bright inside the car, I can't see anything outside! Call me nuts, but it is what it is...lol

Put a piece of tape over the camera lens.

I am having the same issue with my new CTS4. Taping the camera is not an option for me because I utilize the BUC, just hate the night backup for my 65' driveway. don't think that there is a practical fix for this...

Yes, exactly. My driveway is over 100 feet. And I'm kinda in the woods so not much light until I near the garage

Did you try to turn down the brightness of the dash? Might help a bit.

I don't know about disabling it through the settings, but if you unplug the camera behind the bumper the screen will stay black when in reverse.

Have you tried lowering the screen? I've never tried it since I don't mind the back up camera.

Hang a piece of cloth over the screen while you're backing up.

You can't lower it while in reverse. Why are you guys backing up that far?

Not to be a smart *** but that's how long my driveway is (65'). You either back in or back out of any drive unless you have a turnaround. I prefer to back in than back out...

Nowhere to turn around? Sorry just having trouble picturing this. Lots of bad drivers that can't back up that far with or without a backup camera.

My garage doors face the side of my house, at a right angle to the driveway. There are usually two other vehicles parked at the end, so nowhere to turn around and I always back in the garage.
It's annoying just about anywhere in the dark.

Maybe there's a fuse that can be taken out?

Maybe just a small light bar back there with a couple of landing lights. Flick a switch and whala, might even help with jerks on your tail end as well imho.

I don't know. I've got a 1/4 mile driveway, and can pretty easily back down it at night. Probably not at speed, but You could do it. I think the back up camera is pretty good.

Or, you could install a turntable like Batman did in the Batcave?

For my wife it's useless. Even after widening the garage door, she refuses to park inside the garage. She won't even use the car port.
