Often times, when I receive a text message I get the usual notification on the dash (and the "chime"), but it keeps repeating over and over again every few seconds (very annoying), I was talking on the phone (over Bluetooth) and it keep making the notification sound every 5 or 10 seconds for several minutes. I can't seem to "Dismiss" the notifications fast enough. It seems to happen when I'm on a phone call (Bluetooth). I'm using an iPhone 6s.
Try this. Go to settings.....then to notifications.....then to Phone, badges, sounds, and alerts.....then go down to the bottom and set repeat alerts to never. this works for me. Hope it works for you.
Just had this same issue on my '17 Sierra today as well. Haven't had as much trouble in the Vette, but the notifications in the Vette do get frozen in the display sometimes.
Sticking around to see if anyone has a good solution.
What phone setting are you actually suggesting? But hell yeah, no way the MyLink system would ever screw up, huh? Problem MUST be with the phone.
Thanks for adding your wisdom and vague suggestion.
The text message settings. That, seems to be self explanatory, based on the OPs question.
The phone is sending multiple notifications to the My Link system. The My Link system is merely responding to those notifications. The My Link system has no settings to control that behavior thus it can't screw up.
This isn't about a system being perfect, this is about UNDERSTANDING what each system is capable of controlling. There was absolutely no reason to be rude about it.
If anything you just showed you have absolutely no idea how either device works, nor do you care to learn.

What a dick. Why would anyone ever talk to you, much less try and help you again?
Just check the settings.

Were the settings suggestions for an iPhone or Android? The OP has an iPhone and I have an Android. So two software platforms are causing the same issues on a single platform we interface with? Interesting.

So you are 100% sure that there is in no way what so ever a possible bug with the MyLink software? Wow, you are good. But I may disagree with you here.

Wow, you've certainly are wise; you've been able to tell that I have no idea how technology works because I was frustrated with the insular "check the settings" comment. Oh, and by the way, I did check the settings.

SMS, which is what text messaging is called, is cross platform. The settings on all phones have been pretty standard since before the days of smart phones when we had a number of operating systems. These settings don't really change over time as they are dictated by the way text messaging works, not the way the phone software is developed. Could you add more, depends on what hooks the SMS service offers. Apple created iMessage specifically because it was unhappy with how limited SMS is. So yes, the platform is irrelevant.
In terms of My Link, there are limited settings on how it processes notifications, again this is due to the Bluetooth phone standard. So again platform doesn't matter. In fact it doesn't matter if you have a smart phone or a "dumb" phone they all interface with the system the same way.
Why I made the how technology works comment is because clearly you don't understand the above. Unfortunately in todays world people have no interest in figuring out how things work. They don't care about becoming more intelligent. They just want things to just magically work. Technology is not like that, and the more we rely on it the more knowledge the user needs to maintain. If you want things to just work without you having to learn, you should use older technology that is not based on any software.
So in the future before you get upset about a check the settings comment, do some research on your own and learn about how all these things work.

Clearly I don't underhand the above? What makes that so clear to you? You are coming from the perspective that:
1. There is absolutely no way the problem could be in the MyLink system
2. Assumes I have zero experience with technology.
Both of your assumptions are false. Further, since you seem to think you have all the experience, why not tell me exactly what setting I missed in my phone when I already check for the repeating notifications? Furthermore, you might want to ask is the problem sporadic or consistent. Because if the problem is sporadic, maybe a settings problem, that stays consistent, isn't the issue.
So don't lecture me on a willingness to learn or put effort in if you don't want to make an effort and see nothing wrong generic vague comments that don't address the issue.

I'm using the information you've provided, no more no less. If you want to attack people, and then complain about how they characterize you maybe you should explain yourself. Or maybe you shouldn't attack people.
I never said the MyLink system was bug free, what I did say was that based on the complaint and my knowledge of the Bluetooth and SMS protocols it is unlikely that the MyLink system is at fault because it lacks the software authority to create the fault.
None of that above information was previously provided. I don't have a crystal ball and I'm not a mind reader. If instead of attacking other people you explained that you had an issue that didn't conform to what the OP said, and that you checked the phone settings and it wasn't the issue.
The problem here isn't what I posted, the problem here is YOU and your lack of responsibility for YOUR actions. You should be ashamed of yourself. I take ownership of what I say, and when I'm a jerk I own up to it. Maybe you should do the same.
Really? I say "Thanks for adding your wisdom and vague suggestion." and you consider that an attack and then proceed to call me a jerk, tell me I have no idea about technology, tell me I should be ashamed of myself, another guy calls me a dick. Clearly you think very highly of yourself. Thanks for the advice, but I'm good.

I wasn't the only poster to view your post that way. See post 8.
I'm just having a discussion here, you're the one getting all bent out of shape.
Right. You seem upset enough to attack someone whom you have never met for making a sarcastic comment, make incorrect assumptions and then double down on the attacks. When called on it you pretend to be all cool.
