New member. Hope this is the correct forum. Anyway, I have a TPW of 9/24/18. Today (9/10/18) I’m at 3400 with an assigned VIN. Does this mean that most likely it will be built sooner rather than later? Hope so! Thanks!

LOL... I hope so. I have same TPW and we have the same color. Maybe they will be produced back-to-back.

I also have a TPW of 9/24/18. It would be nice if they moved our cars up a week or two.

MyTPW was 8/27. Was built on 8/28 and delivered on 9/6 by truck carrier if this helps.

Thanks! My real question is how long before your TPW did you get the 3400 status/VIN. I’ve read that once the status is at 3400 the build is imminent, yet my TPW is still 2 weeks away.

Hypotheticals as I'm close to purchasing.

If I want the car in hand by Christmas, assuming I put in an order with a forum or local dealer, when should I aim to be the latest day to put the order in? This would be with a courtesy delivery if I used Kerbeck or MacMulkin, etc.

If I wanted to change that to Museum Delivery, how does my latest date change?

Currently, builds seem to be occurring in about 5 weeks. Let's call it 5 and a half weeks to be closer. Then, a courtesy delivery. Not sure but guessing one should allow about a week for it to happen. That makes us at 6.5 weeks. Let's say we add a few more days to be safe. AND, who knows what the demand will be a couple of months from now but I'm guessing it might sink a little as Christmas approaches. So, I'm at 7 weeks from order to delivery. Let's take off a few days because of a possible slowdown as Christmas comes. 45 days would be my guess. Now, subtract 45 days from Dec 24th... November 10th, I'd say. A Saturday. That's my guess. LOL

I ordered mine on 7/ 24,from MacMulkin, it was built on 8/ 28. I will pick up at the museum on 9/15. After your car is built the museum usually has your car ready in about 2 weeks. I was going to do a Courtesy Delivery but everyone around here wanted about $500.00. I had never been to the Museum so I went ahead and did the Museum delivery. I can't wait for Saturday to pick it up. Good Luck with your purchase.

Where do you live? Courtesy delivery could be 3 days or 45 days from production depending where you luve.

North Alabama, Lynn Layton Decatur is the largest local vette dealer. I'm about 3 hours south of the factory, 2.5 if traffic in Nashville is good.

If you are that close to the factory I would do the museum delivery. To be safe I would give that 7-8 weeks as it took me 6 weeks start to finish on a standard delivery to Macmulkin.

So today's allocation (allocation comes out every Thursday) is scheduled to be built the week of Oct 8th. Give your self a two week buffer for museum delivery and maybe 7 - 10 days to go to Alabama get these cars to the dealer in the 3rd or 4th week of October.

The trick you have to worry about is the holidays. Thanksgiving changes schedules and there is a two week shut down for Christmas. If you want to be sure the car is there for Christmas you should let it get to the dealer a little sooner. I'd look at ordering a car by late October or first week of November and let it get the dealer a little sooner.

Thanks, I'll aim for mid Oct for safety then. I would really like R8C done.

Does all money I'm putting down need to be paid when I put in the order, or do I put in a deposit then the balance of the money down when I take ownership of the vehicle? Lastly, does the GM Supplier discount get me anything, and how would that work with any other dealer discounts already applied?

As I have a TPW of 10/8 (and if there are no glitches), I hope to take delivery sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas

Looking forward to photos... Either I miss it or people don't mention it but I don't recall many photos with transparent roofs.
