We were able to confirm that there were some electrical components that needed to be changed over as well as a change to a new Mobil 1 oil as factory fill, and it was decided to initiate these changes early and conduct a model year break. Again, these changes are nothing that would be apparent to the customer. The new factory fill will be 0-40 oil available January 18th and is backwards compatible with older models."

This sounds like complete bullshit.

Break to a completely new model year for some new electrical components and a new factory fill oil spec? Are you kidding me?

I agree. They're doing it in order to stage the timing of the launches of the ZR1 and mid-engine - so that the former can get some play and sales before the latter sucks all the oxygen out of the room.

Yup, but something caused the accelerated schedule... or delay in ME schedule depending on how you look at it if they had to give the C7 gen/Zr1 two more MY's before ME release, but didn't want to wait the full 2 year cycle so they cut it back 6 months.

Yeah, which will probably be know at some point down the road, but we're a ways from that. Will be interesting to learn what slipped/why.

I think the Vette (probably Camaro too) will likely be the last GM model to go full electric.
A phase of hybrid(s) will happen first.

Do we know for certain the 2019 will be a C7?
If it is, I suspect the C8 ME will go into production late next year.

If you dont have a Corvette, absolutely order a 2018 and get what you want, its not worth waiting. If you do have a Corvette, get what you want, its not worth waiting. You can always play the waiting game for the next best thing.

In 2-3 months you'll be in business. Those discounts are coming.

The earlier GM notice regarding the plant shutdown and retooling indicated that the plant would be reopened in November 2017 to resume production of the C7 Corvette. Not sure of the exact quote, but the C7 Corvette was mentioned.

Call David at MacMulkin... I got 13000 off on a 2017 GS Z07 3LT a while back. If there's a deal to be had I believe they will do it. Maybe not quite 25% but getting close!

Rick, I apologize... what I did wasn't very classy. I absolutely did it without realizing it. You started the very interesting informative thread and out of loyalty to MacMulkin I posted the information about my deal.

There's nothing wrong with being thankful for the deal and service I got but I could have done it in a different spot.

Very classy response and I'm sure you'll continue to be one of the top dealers.

Thanks.

Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified

So my C7 2017 Z06 will be 1 MY older quicker by 6 months and then it will catch up with the long run of 2019'S. No big deal. Now if I was someone looking to buy
a C7 now things would get interesting.

My order just made it to 3000 after being placed in August. That means my car is not likely to be built until December if I read the tea leaves.

"With the announcement today of 2018 Corvettes order done 11/20/17 and 2019’s Start up on 11/30 ( production very end of January) I would be safe to say and speculate that 2020 is the year of the C8 generation Corvette."

WOW, STAY TUNED - take advantage of those close out deals right now gang!
They could build both simultaneously.

Default Breaking news

Nobody has mentioned the obvious---with the 2019 introduction you can bet your Socks------HUGE PRICE INCREASE...
Somebody is going to pay for the improvements in the plant AND IT WILL NOT BE GM OR THE SHAREHOLDERS.
This will effect Supply and Demand and fence sitters on the 18s.......

Considering the slow sales, I doubt GM/Chevy is going to risk negatively impacting sales even more with a huge price increase.
