Okay guys, why does my tachometer light up like the sun is behind it sometimes when I step on the peddle firmly? Can’t find the answer in the owners manual or on line. I own a 2015 Stingray without Z51. What the heck is happening?

It's telling you that you are approaching red-line. A yellow glow around the tach which will go red if you get really close to red-line. It goes away when the revs drop down due to upshift or letting off the accelerator.
Furthermore, the red-line point reacts to engine temperature. When "cold", red-line will be much lower and will gradually increase as the engine reaches normal operating termperatures. It also has a lower red-line during the first 500 miles (until break-in is over).
And from the most recent response, looks like I was still right. Are you in manual mode when it happens?
It doesn't matter if you're in manual mode or auto. Zymurgy is correct, it lights up as a "halo" around the center gauge telling you you're getting close to redline, which increases as the engine warms up.
For the OP who asked the question, it's normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Haven't been in an auto, so wouldn't know. Could definitely see the OP's confusion. Seems like a superfluous feature when it's going to shift itself anyways.

It seems to light up around 3500 rpm? That’s not close to redline?

Is that when you just started the car? The "redline" moves as the engine warms up (indicated by extra numbers and colors around the tach) until it gets to actual redline, and then the extra markings go away.

With the engine cold it will light up yellow at 3500. As the engine warms up that number increases until the actual redline (6500 I believe?) when the engine is fully warmed up.

Yep, precisely what I stated back in post #7:

Is this info in the owners manual? I certainly can’t find it! Thanks for your help.
