44 degrees in Michigan today, went to a car show was like driving on roller skates but had a great day nonetheless. Treating each day like its the last one, top off and wash and back to the bat cave!
Had the oil changed in the C7 yesterday, and that was the last of them. All will be stored on 11/1. Last Sunday the wife and I went for a cruise with the C7 and were sipping some wine outdoors at a winery near Dellwood-no chance of that today...
My first Corvette winter was uneventful and that was with daily drives to NYC. Those have been eliminated. Now it’s 20 miles a day round trip to Newark, NJ. The AS3+ go back on this week. We had lots of rain here today, Saturday a guy in a red Dodge Ram says, guess you won’t be driving that tomorrow. My reply, “it does have windshield wipers.”
After a hearty laugh we went our separate ways...I did pick up my Goddaughter in today’s “driving” rain. The wipers worked very well.
I'd feel bad for you, except I'm from Saskatchewan, and the season is over in September usually, until about May.
So, when you're complaining about the short summers in Minnesota, just keep in mind you got a few extra months!
Everyone in that climate who buys a car like this has to be prepared for making the payment while the thing is sitting on jack stands (or whatever) for half the year! It sucks...
I have come to the conclusion there is no "good" place to live where the average Joe can afford to live.
I lived in Florida for more than 30 years, and until recent health issues, the Inferno never really bothered me. Now I cannot tolerate the Inferno anymore. Pretty much the same thing - 7 months where the temp is 98 degrees+ with 90% humidity and can only stand to wash the car at dusk and then have to fight off the mosquitoes! Only thing is I can drive the car year round. Just cannot work on it 6 months out of the year.
Cannot afford to live in California with all the Libitards where a cardboard box would cost me a million $.
And forget about Hawaii - same issue.
So it is either burn 6 months out of the year or freeze 6 months out of the year, or live in a cardboard box with the brain dead zombies where it is nice all year long.
There is always IDAHO! Dry and has all 4 Seasons. Put the car to bed in Nov/Dec and wake her up in March.
This is from today's ride in our back yard. 65 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Some snow at elevation, but still in the 60s.

I think I've got it figured out pretty well, as my plan in 5 years time (when my wife and I retire) is to spend December to March in southwest Florida, where the weather is mostly sunny and 75-80. Then we'll be here in Southern Ontario the rest of the year, and the summer months here are similar to a Florida winter. We'll have to deal with a little bit of cooler weather in April and November, but other than that we'll be dealing with near perfect weather conditions all of the time. And best of all, I can drive the Corvette every single day, no winter storage needed
Cleaned the C7 today during the crap rain we are having. I'll take it out if the weather stays above 55, but otherwise on the tender she goes. Still, I'm ok with it. Looking forward to the fireplace, skiing, snowmobiling, and hopefully a white Christmas. Come spring, the Vette feels like a special treat all over again. Every season has good points - I actually enjoy a bit of anticipation for the changes. I'd hate living in a single season climate.

I feel for you. Hopefully I still have about a month to go before my car will be put in storage for the winter, but since the weather can change here very fast, you never know - it may be much sooner than December 1st.
The worst time of the year, automotively speaking, is upon me. I really, really hate Minnesnowta. Just a little more cleanup and the covers go on for, at least, 5 long damn months.
I used to complain that my shoes had holes,......Then I met a man that had no feet!
I don't totally store my vert in winter here. We get enough snow free, salt free days to drive it a lot. even at low temps .Have AS tires on it from Nov to mid April and they perform well. The only time i don't drive it is if there is snow, snow melt or salt on the roads. We usually get some warmer days here when the snow all melts and the rains wash away the salt. drove it mostly all winter last year.
We've lived in northern Illinois all our lives except for a few years in SoCal, which was great back then but off my list now.
During my working years we always managed to get to Hawaii/Florida/Mexico for a week or two break each winter.
Since retirement, we would drive to SW Florida in mid-January to a rented condo and do a leisurely cruise home in April. That worked well until we got tired of staying in a crowded overpriced tourist trap where 50% of the drivers are heavily sedated and the other 50% just flunked out of Anger Management Class.
Last winter we shipped the car to Calif (shipping was a horrible mistake) and spent two months around Phoenix. Much better, though the drive each way is longer. We plan to drive to the Ron Fellows school this January, two months in Phoenix, drive home in April.
Yes, we have a spare set of wheels with All Season tires, and don't rush.
We really love our home/area/friends in Illinois and don't want to make a permanent move anywhere. Yet. But my wife did fall in love with a saguaro cactus last winter...

Here in snowy Michigan I drive the car all year round. Trick is to put true snow tires on when temps drop below 50* consistently. The car is a blast to drive in snow with those Pirellis sporting super soft rubber. Combined with the manual tranny I can avoid a lot of tire spinning and I can stop well by using engine braking in combination with the great grip. If I get salt on the car I rinse it off in the garage with warm water...car cleans up beautifully in the spring..you would never know it was driven through the winter.

You should also put the snowblower attachment on your John Deere.😂😂😂😂
