Default Convertable top question

I am in the process of ordering a convert. and have a question about the back glass and how to protect it from scratches. I had a C6 and used a bath towel to protect the plastic back glass, any ideas.

I have 240,000 miles on a C6 Vert, and 78,000 miles on a C7 Vert, and I have never had a scratch issue.

Up and down literally thousands of times, so I'm not sure what the concern is? Where are you placing the towel?

The back glass is actually glass, not plastic, BTW.

Correct, it's glass and does not scratch. It sounds like you were wasting your time OP, the C6 convertible top had a glass window as well.

My 1996 C4 vert had a glass back window. IIRC, the last year any Corvette had a plastic rear window was 1992...

Do you cover your windshield and side windows too with a bath towel? If so, then how do you see out?

You do not need to do a thing except lower the top and drive it.

Had 3 Verts since 1998, simply lowed the top when necessary and raised it for the same reason. Never had to do anything special!

Not a brain fart at all. Topic's like this keep this forum going. I'm glad you brought it up. We have all seen people cover back windows on convertibles whether they are glass or plastic. Good to hear the opinions of others.

Your very kind, and I appreciate your kindness, but a brain fart is a brain fart.

Default Worrying

About worrying. 80K on our C6 convertible and now 36K on the C7. S. AZ we have the top down more than most. Never considered doing anything special. And so we didn't.

The best thing to do is don't put the top up.

GM seems to have the C7 vert top figured out. Good looks, good fit, good mechanics, and
good sound/temp insulation.
