The screaming beep on my RR every time I back out of the garage drives me crazy! I turn it off and I never use the surround camera - but do use the back up camera as a general safety feature to ensure there's no child behind me in the Walmart parking lot. I don't trust the cameras when it comes to backing between cars - the view is too weird. Rather use the mirrors side-to-side. Besides, as an old phone company guy, we were trained to drive into spots that allow you to drive out. Sure way to avoid typical backing accidents.
I don't have a problem with crash avoidance sensors, necessarily. It's the fact that the vast majority of them use police band radar, which would render my RD useless if I had them on a car I was driving.
If they used some other freq, then if they could be engineered to be visually invisible, then go for it! I know some car manufacturers must be using a frequency that is not interfering with my RD, because occasionally, I'll see the spot on their side mirror light up and I can't detect it.
