Hello to all,
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Well since I got my Z51 I've been eyeing a few mods and finally took the plunge. I bought some clear rear tail lights and sound proofed the rear cargo area. That was a royal pita.
If someone is thinking of doing it my suggestion would be to have a heat gun handy makes working with the mat a lot easier.
I watched a couple videos from the forum on how to remove the rear bumper and they were very helpful. Kudos to those cats that took the time to video the process and post it on the forum. My next project is to install the Z06 front grill and I was wondering if anybody used an after market grill and how did it turn out?
I checked a couple forum retailers and the price varies considerably. I have the oem cameras and from one dealer they only sell the grill with the cameras and another sells the grill with brackets to install the existing ones. The grill that comes with the brackets is an after market one so was curious how it turned out. if anybody has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Since a lot of you have done these mods I figured I'd ask on here.
By the way I got a great deal from a Chevy dealer in NC on the tail lights (oem) and I believe they have more for sale at the price I got. If some one is looking let me know and I will send you the info.

To funny. I had almost this exact post a few months back. After going over it a million times in my mind, and from input from my installer, I went with the cheaper version. You will get all types of opinions on this, but at the end of the day, its a plastic grille on the front of your car. I saved the money and used it to buy other stuff. The difference it price was dramatic. If you can wait until after christmas, I will let you know how it went. If you do it before christmas, please let me know how it went

BTW, my installer says he can reuse the camera's. Hope that is true. Been wating for this mod for a while, but cant get it done till after xmas. But grille was ordered

 

I saw a forum retailer had theirs on sale for black Friday, J W Motorsports, theirs looked pretty good so was probably gonna get theirs as long as its still on sale. The grill with the brackets cost $189.00. It was still on sale earlier today so hopefully it still will be next week. like I said was just looking for some feed back on some after market ones. I did see one on Ebay I think it was extremeparts or something same price but I like to buy forum retailer parts when possible. if I do it before Christmas i'll let you know, thx.

 

That is who I purchased it from. Seemed nice when I emailed him. Just hoping it works out. Just seems senseless to buy a grille with the camera's, when you already have the cameras. Yes, please let me know how it works out. Cant wait to see pics and hear your experience

Well finally got around to putting on the front Z06 grille. It looks great and the quality is just as well. As past posters who've installed this it can be a little bit of a pita but all in all the product looks nice and for just being a piece of plastic it is similar to the oem grille.
I also changed out the rear tail lights to clear ones and they too look great. Huge shout out to the cats that put videos out to help with the install.
