Correct. The code only lasts for a single session. Every time you invoke it you type in "a" code. You don't need to know what code the previous owner used. You can use the same one every time, or a different one every time: Your choice.

It works similarly to those closet safes you see in some hotels. There is no storing of the code 'cept when you've specifically set one when entering valet mode. After you open it the code is discarded.

Besides locking the Info Screen in the UP position and locking the glove compartment, if you have the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) you can set Valet Mode to record how the car is driven and also record the audio in the car.

I have a '14, so forgive me. Does it still record sound? or is yours an early '15 that hasn't gotten "flashed"?

My car is a 2017 Grand Sport. The Nav System / PDR was an option for my 2LT package.
No, the SD card does not come with the system although some dealers might include it as a perk. There are other threads here about SD cards. Note that you can use a larger card than the 32 GB max recommended if you first reformat the card to FAT 32.

It's a bit awkward. The slot is tiny on the left side of the glovebox and at a strange angle. It would be easier if you had a flashlight. I had to laugh at myself recently when I tried to insert a new card. It just would not go in. I struggled for several minutes until I discovered there was a card already in the slot! You push the card slightly inward and then it pops out. I have a camera that does the same sort of thing. It's just so dark in there that I was going by feel alone and did not see the original card. The salesman in your case should damn well have known how it worked.

I was half-assed checked-out on the car at the Chev. dealership. Searched all over the inside of the car, with the exception of under the seats and behind the seats. It's a convertible. The trunk is clean. I delved into emptying the glove box and the Ziploc baggie containing the various Owners Manual(s) - all clean. No SD card in slot, the hidden compartment behind the info-screen, or in console.
So, I suppose Best Buy is where to get one? 32gb? Shall I buy two?
I'm going to have to learn how to operate the video real time driving operation of the PDR. I want to use it anytime I'm driving, as evidence of what my car was facing, if and when needed to prove what happened in a driving situation.
I also want the PDR record of anyone who is in front of the car when the car is parked somewhere, so there's a possible video of anyone who may have tampered or vandalized the car when left parked.

Also - the Tow Screw/Pin is missing from the pre-formed place it should be on top of the car battery on the trunk.
Sales rep stated he'd have one provided to me, but said it was only to pull the car at the drag strips.
