so after a good nights rest and a bottle of wine... I got up, ran to Home Depot and picked up a carbide drill bit and a mini torch.... thank God everything went smooth and according to plan.... I carefully drilled thru the EZ out until I was able to remove all of the particles. I then applied a torch to the bolt.... a very small precise torch, heated it up for 3minute or so and proceeded to easily remove the bolt... Thank you all for the tips and information !!
Dan

Glad you got it out relatively easy. Using a shitty quality easy-out the first time around worked in your favor. If it was truly hardened you would have never drilled through it.

Another thing to keep in your shop is a good set of left handed drill bits. That’s what we use in my industry when drilling stripped fasteners out. About 25% of the time you get lucky & the screw just spins out while you’re drilling it. Just make sure your drill is also in reverse; seen that one before.

Congrats on the successful operation doctor!
Looks like the amount of sound proofing you're installing will make a big difference. I did mine and not only did it cut down on the road noise but made the sound system sound much better.

Thank you for all of your input !! Actually that Screw extractor was an oldie (30yrs old I'd bet) ..... Vermont American if I recall.... I am very picky with tools... Wish the local Snap on guy didn't think he was a rock star... lol I've accumulated a vast amount of tools over 30yrs of working with these hands of mine....

Thank you !! To be honest, I'm a little disappointed with the turnout on the sound proofing.... I'm going to have to think some more on that.... What exactly did you do ?
