My battery seems to be dead. I was able to jump the car. Kept getting FOB not found. Anyway, I know these cars go bezerk with a bad battery. I can get an Interstate, AC-Delco or Champion battery. Any preference? Do I want an AGM battery? Any chance it's the alternator from what I described?.

Get an AGM, there are now several that fit the C7. I got a Diehard for ~$150 but AutoZone had the same one with their brand name and about the same price. 760 Cold Cracking Amps (CCA) versus 565 for OEM.
This is a picture/text PDF of my AGM install. There are a few tricks covered like getting the carpet out without tearing and how to remove the large power board that is NOT even covered in the 4 Volume Service Manual other than: "Remove Power Board! http://netwelding.com/Battery_Issues.pdf
I have had good luck with plain old AC Delco Professional grade GOLD series battery....has 42 month free replacement.
BTW- there are a gazillion other battery threads if you look around on the forum.

Well since you don't tell us what the year of the car is I guess you are out of warranty otherwise I'd just take it to the dealer and let them install a new one at no cost. If you are paying for a new one I personally prefer an interstate, just be sure it fits correctly and that you can install the hold downs.
You got a message that says FOB not found? Did you place the FOB into the slot on the steering wheel column and try to start the car? If the FOB battery goes dead, you will get that message as an initial sign of a problem. If the car starts with the FOB in the slot, your car battery is probably good. I think it is cheaper to replace the FOB battery than the car battery, don't you?
Just sayin'...
Test the problem in a specific order and you save a ton of money.
It would really be helpful to know how old the car battery is? What year is your car? Have you had "slow" cranking when you start the car? You know, little stuff that might help in our suggestions.

Only reason to pass up on the Delco battery is NO HANDLES! What a PITA to R&R the OEM. I believe all the AGM batteries are made by one company and except for color, labels and warranty, they are identical and come off the same line. My OEM Delco died with a dead cell after 2.5 years. Seems like most of the auto retails now have an exact AGM replacement - WITH HANDLES. So I picked the one that had the best price. Don't forget to reconnect the vent tube.

Absorbed Glass Mat. The electrolyte is captured in a fiberglass type mat between the plates. They have more capacity and can't spill like conventional batteries.
Thanks for all the great advice. Due to the blizzard and needing a battery quickly I ended up with a Diehard AGM battery. I unfortunately don't belong to Sam's club so that wasn't an option. It makes no sense to buy a battery from a company on the brink of closing all its stores but I wanted an AGM battery.
AGM (Absorbent glass mat) AGM batteries differ from flooded lead acid batteries in that the electrolyte is held in the glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates. Very thin glass fibers are woven into a mat to increase surface area enough to hold sufficient electrolyte on the cells for their lifetime.
f1reb1rd: This battery has may more cracking amps than the AC/Delco. I was going to get original equipment but my original battery only lasted 4 years which is just OK.
