Depends. From what I've read prices can be all over the place. I have a two year coating and really like it. Have never waxed the car and it still beads like crazy after 1.5 years and makes cleaning a breeze. PS- car is a daily driver with 28k miles as well
It is worth the investment. I am a Pro Detailer and have coated at least 50 cars. Many of them Black, and after a year they still remain swirl free. Washing them, is almost just a rinse.
While Ceramic Pro does give a warranty, I lean towards the Kamikaze products, for a very slightly better shine and protection.
I choose Wolfgang Uber Ceramic for my latest two new cars, and became a newbie in applying it. I choose WUC because it has a deserved reputation of being one of the best and one of the easiest for a non-pro to apply.
Both cars came out great, with three caveats.
1) It will protect and reflect what is underneath the ceramic, so if you want your ceramic to make your car pop (as mine both have), the key is to do major paint preparation and at least hand polishing correction before applying the ceramic.
2) Apply exactly as per the directions (and the YouTube videos), insuring you use the very least amount, spreading it out exactly as prescribed.
3) Following temperature application directions, make sure you never let it dry fully on the surface, instead after it starts to haze, wipe it off with new microfiber towels — and then immeiartely take a new/clean towel and do a second wiping —to double insure you have not left over build up on the surface.
Following all the above, for a total investment of less than $200/car, both of my new cars looked terrific when completed, and averaging now a year later, both still look terrfic with no follow up treatments.
Will be doing all the above on my next new car, my 2020 ME.
Yes, I have C-Quartz, and it is excellent. "Worth the price"? Well, that is certainly a subjective issue. It was for me.... whether or not it is for you, how can another person say?
My Z51 just got done with a 5 year coating this past Friday, below are a couple pics. It had some scratches on it and swirl marks. I had a paint correction done also. Total cost for the paint correction and 5 year coating was $1100, includes wheels, windows, exhaust tips also. The scratches you can't see anymore in normal light or even sunlight but in the installers bay with their lights you could faintly see them still. Is it worth it, without question yes. You can go through a touch-less wash or in most cases just rinse it off and it will look like it was just detailed. I've had it on a few of my cars and love it. You're suppose go back for a yearly top coat though, local places around me are around $75 for that, I guess that really depends on much use the car gets though too.
If you do not like detailing your own car every few months then I guess it is worth it. On the other hand you can pay a good detailer to do your car twice a year and the cost is nowhere near the cost of some of what owners are paying for ceramic coatings.
Not worth the money to me.
Right now I use Zaino sealer and Z-8. It’s easy to apply and I just need to reapply 1x per year. The reason I chose it over ceramic is that it’s easy to remove and fix swirls on smaller areas if necessary and I understand removing ceramic is a PIA. I’ve also read that ceramic has better durability, but Zaino with Z-8 has a better shine. I’d be interested in hearing what the detailers say about this.

A good exterior detail is $200-$300, most of the time $300 or even more. My ceramic coating was $1100 with a paint correction for a 5 year coating($900 for the coating, $200 for the correction). If you use your car all year long or even most of the year you will need more than 2 details a year. You come out ahead every time with a ceramic coating vs an exterior detail. You just have to pay it all up front, but you don't to do multiple appointments with your car either. Just once every 5 years or you can do a 2 year and a lifetime which I think is around 10 years.
Has anyone had their car ceramic coated and is it worth the price? I have a black Grand Sport 2017 and want to keep it nice.
Where are you located? I on a Detail company here in St. Louis if I can be of any help?
26 years of experience. PM if you have any questions. I have a Facebook page also if you would like to see some Paint Coating results. It is Dwyer Detailing.
The main benefit is the paint correction done before applying the coating. Even new cars need attention. The coating is nice if you enjoy low maintenance washes. I certainly do
I think it is worth it if you don't dote over your car. By that I will use myself as an example. I detail my car every day. I live in an area where if you drove it every day of the year it rained it would only be a half dozen days at most. I have lived here in AZ since April and have only had to wash my car 3 times and was only after long trips. If you typically only wash or detail your car once a week or so and are driving it regularly it well worth it.
