The hub is the center portion of the wheel and is what attaches the wheel to the suspension. The spokes radiate out from the hub and attach to the rim. The rim is the outer part of the wheel that holds the tire. While many people refer to wheels as "rims," this is technically incorrect.
they both look good all depends on personal preference.

thats funny...
my mom loves black rims (had the altitude jeep) loves black rims on my vettes - she was born in 54'
my dad born in 51' hates black rims, if he had a choice would get chrome wheels.

Too bad there isn't more diversity among Corvette owners or we could also have a bunch of stupid threads on wheel color choice by ethnicity, gender, or other demographic identifier.
Or just simplify by having a thread with the title, "My choice is right and your choice was wrong" we would capture a lot of the "ME, Me, me" personalities on this forum.

I am always amused when I see the wheel color preference question come up in the Forum, to me it is all about personal preference and cost. I am very happy with my GS standard pearl/nickel painted wheels, but would have gladly ordered the machine face wheels if they were not $1,495.00 extra, at $84K MSRP for my GS, I thought that was enough for my needs!
For that matter, how many of you would have still ordered the black painted wheels if their cost would have been similar to the chrome $1,995.00?

Hmm, must be getting younger! Now 75 and I went from Gray for my C6 Z51, Black for my 2014 Z51 and now machined face aluminum for my Grand Sport!
Top: 2008 C6 Z51
Middle: 2014 Z51
Bottom: 2017 Grand Sport!
More dependent on car color, accessories and personal aesthetics, IMO

There's actually a pretty good reason why GM offers so many different styles and colors of wheels for the Corvette. The only time it becomes an issue is when owners feel that anyone who didn't make the same decision they did is "wrong" . . . and Lord, isn't there more than enough of that type of thinking in the world already without dragging our favorite car into it?

Mid 70's, would not buy chrome because it's not durable, would not buy black because you can't see them, like polished aluminum and had that on my C6 and now my C7. And these R86 wheels are pretty rare and I like that too.

Born in ‘55 and my ‘14 silver Vette had black wheels to go along with black mirrors and spoiler. With my ‘18 I chose chrome to go with Long Beach red and Kalahari top. I don’t think age has anything to do with it, more so the color of the car.
