Default C7 purchase

I’ve been looking for a C7 Grand Sport for a little bit now and found one local and within my budget but there’s only one issue. Apparently while on the lot the rear quarter panel got scuffed enough to need some paint repair done and is being fixed right now. I’m not necessarily worried about it if it’s a quality repair except for the fact that it could potentially be on the Carfax in the future. I’m not sure what warrants something to go on the Carfax/autocheck report. Luckily the saleman was honest enough to let me know that it happened, he did say it would not be reported as an accident but potentially as just a repair. What’s the opinion on something like this?

Non issue for me and doubt it would have any impact on future value. I trade my cars in and I am not aware of the dealer even checking carfax.

If they don't report it....it never happened. A little paint damage and repair are pretty much a given with any used car. People have been buying used cars for over 100 years. How did they manage without a Carfax ???

To me it’s a no issue if it’s a quality repair, but when selling the car I don’t want it to be an issue. I buy/sell a car usually once a year and it has come up in th past. That’s the only reason I’m asking. I know it happens all the time at dealers. Hell I had a C5Z years ago that I’m pretty sure was completely repainted but it was never reported lol.

Funny this should come up and I’ll assume I’m in the minority but I recently had a similar situation.

I had been searching for my first C7 and had specific colors, options, packages, etc I wanted and wasn’t going to settle.....I was going to wait.

So I find “the car” and the seller claimed it had a clean Carfax, I obtained a copy through a friend and it too had some repairs to the front bumper.

Not a big deal at all but his dishonesty about it turned me off and I passed on that car.

To make a long reply longer, if your just honest with whoever you trade or sell it to I can’t imagine something minor like that will make much of a difference.

I actually decided to pass on it and went with one on carmax and having it shipped across country.
