Ordering a new Vette
I've been out of a vette for a while now, but after messing around with old muslce cars I'm ready to get back into a vette. I'm wanting to order one similar the GS I previously owned. Who has the best deal out there and is there an advantage to ordering out of state and paying the transportation fees? I'm planning on going to the local dealer this weekend to see if they are wanting to wheel and deal. Just looking to for the best deal out there.

You are going to get 40 responses with everyone suggesting their favorite dealer so I will cut to the chase. Shop the forum dealers and get their bottom line quote including shipping and/or courtesy delivery if you special order the car instead of buying from dealer inventory. Depending on the deal and how aggressive your local dealers are...you could come out substantially ahead even with shipping factored in. At the very least, you will have a bargaining tool when negotiating with a local dealer. Don’t forget financing rates are just as important as the bottom line price. Just recently a forum dealer advertised a price that was $4000 less than any other forum dealer... The catch was you had to finance with a company charging a minimum of 3.8% higher than another forum dealer could get you set up with to get this price. Over the course of the loan, you would have paid twice what you saved in additional interest. So look at the entire picture.

I wont be able to find one on the lot anywhere as I have been looking for quite a while. Why is a manual so hard to find? Looking for admiral blue GS, 2lt, M7, white stripe, red hash marks, black wheels, red calipers, red interior with competition seats. I have an appointment on Saturday with the dealer here locally to see what they can do. I will most likely only be financing a small part of the cost and will find the best rate for that. Im not real excited about buying out of state, but would like to be able to get the deal done locally. Can I make a post in the dealer section with what Im looking for and see who responds........it appears that just dealers create posts there?

Agreed, each of the forum dealers will be competitive in terms of pricing. When placing an order, you may also take into consideration deposit amounts, shipping costs (about $1 a mile) from selling dealer to your location, etc. For me, a courtesy delivery was the most affordable option. When I decided to order as opposed to buy from inventory, MacMulkin beat out the competition as I hoped and earned my business, I have no regrets.

Incidentally, some cosmetic options (hash marks, stripes, spoilers) are pretty easily added to any vehicle, and thus OP might be able to find something quite close to what he wants in stock somewhere. Dealers have a pretty sophisticated search tool that should let them identify cars at other dealers that might fit OP's requirements. I have bought a number of vehicles (though not a C7) via dealer trades where I didn't have to wait for the exact car I wanted to be built. It already was sitting on another dealer's lot.

That's quite a specific laundry list. It's possible, but unlikely you'll find that exact list on a dealer lot unless you're willing to compromise. For example, for 2017 there were only 110 cars built in Admiral Blue with adrenaline red interiors. With all the rest of your requirements, you're looking for a unique car that may not even exist. But you could order the car and take courtesy delivery at a local dealer. That way you won't pay extra shipping costs. Expect 10-12% off MSRP from a forum dealer. And you want the "best deal." It's kind of like the old adage: "Good, fast, cheap: Pick any two." Do you want the "best deal" or do you want your very specific list of requirements? You can have one or the other, but likely not both. Manuals are "hard to find" because they do not sell well. We have a couple of generations now who don't even know how to drive them. In 2017 the ratio was about 25,000 autos vs 7,000 or so manuals. Nationwide autos make up 97% of cars sold.

As a good example of how hard it can be to find a specific combination of color and equipage, I wanted a Sebring Orange, M7 Stingray convertible. Mine was the only 2018 built meeting just those simple specs (1 of 1), and that's without all the other possible options like 1/2/3 LT, interior/top colors, Z51, NAV/PDR, MSRC, NPP, etc.
Only 2 2018 Sebring Orange Stingray convertibles were built, and the other one was an automatic. Mine also included 2LT, Z51, MSRC (FE4) w/ PTM, NPP, Carbon Flash pkg, black top, interior, and wheels.

Supplier Pricing
Don't forget that one of the perks of joining the National Corvette Museum is you are eligible for GM Supplier Pricing. That produced the best price I could find in my area; I wasn't interested in a trip to one of the East coast dealers. Enjoy your new Corvette...

...and we'll be happy to work up a build for you with pricing.
Obviously our discounts on in-stock cars are always better than orders, but if you choose to order, we can always set up a Courtesy Delivery for you at a local Chevrolet dealership of your choice.
So, your ordered Corvette would be shipped from the factory to the Chevrolet dealership of your choosing and that dealership would be responsible for conducting the pre-delivery inspection and getting it ready for you to pick up.
Most Chevrolet dealerships charge anywhere from $350 - $750 to do the Courtesy Delivery which is much cheaper than having an in-stock unit shipped to you.
It's all about CHOICE. We're here to work with you, so feel free to reach out to us!
