Car won't start
Even worse if the battery dies and you call AAA for a jump start, good chance the rep will rip the carpet getting to the battery. Heck forum posts say a dealer tech did the same. It’s not hard as the carpet is under the plastic wheel well cover and is not bound! It’s a raw edge and difficult to pull out.Although not in th Owner’s Manual or Service Manual, you should unclip the lower back edge of the cover before removing. Easy to do with your hands and put back the same way!
There are other things that make it more difficult to replace than a C6 etc. For example before you can take it out of the hole (it needs some type of device to do that, I bought a cheap one) there is a cover and than a large power board with a 300 amp and other fuses. The 4 volume Service Manual says "Remove power board!" But does not say how! There is a bussbar that also needs to be disconnected. I made a pic/text PDF of my replacement with a Diehard AGM battery. Same one is made for Autozone and Advanced Auto that fits the Vette.
Made this pic/text PDF of my install: http://netwelding.com/Battery_Issues.pdf
When I returned my old battery to the store for my $10, I told the Service Manger about the issues with the install in case they got a C7 in and were going to change the battery! He said, "We no longer provide that service for batteries that are not in an easy access, we recommend they go to the dealer! Can understand that as the wife's Porsche Cayenne required removal of the driver seat to access the battery! Lots of seat control wires, connectors and plastic clips that secure the covers! It is a difficult job requiring a special tool. Looked at a YouTube "How To" but fortunately sold it with the battery reading 11.5 volts just before it was ready to go! $900 quote from Porsche!
