Just venting here so if you don't want to hear me bitch don't read. I've had my 2016 Z51 for a little over two years and was getting the itch for something different. So looked at a ton of new Hellcats in the Chicago area but when I went to get a trade in value I was floored. Anywhere between $42-45k for my car. Holy **** I couldn't get over how many used Corvettes there were in the market. The bottom really dropped out of these cars. This thing stickered for $72k and has lost about 30k in 24 months. Looks like she's staying put for now. Sorry for the rant...so for the forum member who offered me 45k last year you were right!!!
What really amazes me is the number of people here who hold onto their Vetts for such a short period of time. You are planning on buying something different; many here seem to trade a C7 for another C7. Right now there is too much downward pressure on the used market, what with three model years of Vettes available new at the same time. Lots of discounts on the new floor models means our cars are depreciating faster than normal. That will reverse course in a few years I think. You will have fun in that HELLCAT though.
Same thing for my Cadillac ATS... lost 30+% in 3 years. My 2010 Hemi Challenger was worth $5k more than the Caddy. I did a 2 car trade and saved an addition $2,400 in sales tax. So I am down to 2 cars... 08 Vette and 17 Charger Scat Pack (DD).
MSRP is meaningless when nobody pays it. Your car could have been had for 60K or lower 2 years ago so $45K sounds right for trade in.
Ya I know it's right where it's supposed to be but I was just amazed. I wasn't trying to say it's worth any more. I had the itch I guess because she been sitting for 5 months. I've always wanted a Hellcat but that's on hold now. I drive her yesterday for the first time since November and once I heard those ARH headers bark I knew she was staying. Hellcat look like so much fun but a one trick pony.

It stickered for $72k but how much did you pay for it?
Exactly why you don’t buy one of these brand new!!! Buying a new one you are driving away from that purchase rolling your window down and literally taking 30 thousand 1 dollar bills and throwing them out!!! Fact!!! I bought a z51 2 years old ,I’m not rich so I gotta be smart with my money. Buying one of these new you gotta have lots of money you can throw away.
I traded in my 2014 2lt base stingray last summer for $44k. The car was great and only had 15k miles on it. I was more than happy with my trade in value. You have to remember that while the Vette might have a 70k+ sticker most people don’t actually pay anywhere near that. Big volume dealers offer huge discounts in these cars some up to 20% off sticker. If you have a dealer offering you 45 and your Vette and you are getting a fair price on the hellcat I’d take it. Hellcats are something I’m very familiar with as well as that’s what I traded in my corvette for. Are you looking for a challenger or charger used or new? The challenger market has taken a plunge while the Charger market is holding a bit more steady. You can get yourself a used HC challenger with lowwww miles for around 50k and a Charger for around 52k. Also the tax savings on trade is a great insentive.

I was looking a a new 2017 Challenger Hellcat A8 in destroyer grey. Love that color. They had it reduced down to 63k from 71 sticker.
Beautiful color for sure.... but 58k is where I would want to be. They will sit on that car for a loooonnngggg time if they aren’t more flexible. Join the Hellcat demon group on Facebook or the hellcat forum and get some more info in the cars. Lots of dealers with lots of leftovers prices to sell! The A8 in the hellcat is absolutely incredible! You’ll love it. I drove the manual and it was terrible and sloppy. This is my first auto in 13 years and I love it! GM autos can’t compare to the ZF in the hellcats.
I think at this point I'm going to hold off for a few months and see if I can swing a deal on a wide body hellcat in destroyer. That's what I really want. My cars almost paid for.

Some corvette owners such as one 34 year old on this forum who wanted to know how fast is too fast in a 45 mph limit get their corvettes for FREE from inheritance, paid off his house with it and now is waiting for his mom to pass so he can collect the life insurance money. that guy will be getting the new ZR1 I bet and trading his vette in at any value. its people like that and others who have to have a new car every year to impress the jones's. I on the other hand am the opposite, paid off my house in 14 years of ownership by making extra mortgage payments, that allowed me to save up to buy my 2014 for cash at $72k plus taxes $78k total and because I don't have car payments allowed me to dump about another $25k to get it modded with supercharger, carbon fiber everywhere etc... I don't need a new corvette, love my VY 2014 Z51. Its those people that change cars like their underwear that drive down the used car market.

I was disappointed to see the c7 14-17 on the consumer reports list. the "used cars to avoid list" much worse than average reliability.
previous gen's are not on that list, i don't think they EVER were on the avoid list.
Also satisfaction dropped to 87% the lowest ever. Was high 90's% would buy again.
I love the looks of the c7, but i'll keep my 61 and my 72 until i find out what it takes to bring up the driving experience of the c7. i'm guessing too many nannies? or are they really unreliable?
Back when the c5 was new, a CF member was trading one in every year and they held value so good, it was almost Free! (+ a grand or something like that). They were on the CR used cars to BUY list!
The $40,000.00-$45,000.00 range for clean (well optioned) 2014,15, & 16 Vettes seems to have stayed constant over the last year. I have kept my eye on the market for quite some time and just recently decided to purchase a C7 partially based on that. I know they will continue to go down, but it seems to be at a much slower rate. I can sympathize with taking a bath on a new car though, I traded in my 2017 Ford Focus RS on my C7 and took a huge bath on that. The Focus RS has horrible resale value at the moment.

That's a gorgeous car! Now I'll have to consider yellow.
