Default So I know ...

So I know this is a Vette forum but I am now faced with a dilemma - a 2017 Camaro 1SS 1LE (love that package) just showed up on my radar and for $16,000 less then the C7 1LT I was going to buy - same color but the SS has a lot better suspension options and it only has a 570 miles it's virtually new so what would you guys do ...?

Totally different cars. Ones a muscle car and ones a sports car. Depends on what you are looking for.

Sounds a bit harsh not meaning to, but you either want a Corvette or you don't. Myself I wanted a Corvette so I never considered the Camaro. That being said the Camaro is a great car and a strong performer. If money is an issue than the Camaro is a reasonable alternative.

Nothing. But if I were interested I'd go ask on a Camaro forum.

I have wanted a Corvette for ages but as a working guy raising a family I needed the lower cost and a back seat so I bought a couple Camaros over the years. Shortly before retiring I got my Corvette.

I cannot imagine being stumped with the choice between the two if you don't need a back seat. As said earlier, they are two totally different machines.

Best of luck on your choice. Drive them both before you decide.

seriously considered the Camaro, one of the best bang for the buck options, period....but I just couldn't get past the (terrible) driving position, how low you sit and the equally poor visibility...I wish you luck and wisdom on your final selection

The 1LE is an amazing car. Can’t go wrong either direction. And, if the C7 is a base and not a Z51, the 1LE will actually be faster at the track. My last track car was a Gen 5 1LE. My buddy has a 17 1LE. He loves it. Will you be tracking the car?

Either you need a backseat or you need a Corvette.

Why get rid of the Vette? Keep them both.

^^^ He said a Vette that he was going to buy...

OP, I agree with the above posts. Do you need a back seat, and do you prefer a pony/muscle car over a sports car? If so, then seems like an easy decision... either way.

If you think the blind spots in the C7 are bad, you just haven't driven a Camaro, yet.

If you need a back seat the obvious one is the Camaro. The Corvette is the most impractical car I've ever had. I love it but there is no way I could ever use it as a DD.

Part of the reason you pay more for the Corvette is because of its shape and styling, which the other holds nothing over it. Just keep that in mind

I recently test drove a Camaro and hated it. The visibility was just horrible. I prefer the corvette many times over. That being said anyone here who is saying the Camaro is a muscle car and not a sports car doesn’t know what they are talking about. Today’s Camaros (latest gen) are very capable. A well equipped Camaro is quite formidable on a track and awesome as a daily. For me personally it’s lack of visibility ruined it though.

I've never liked the looks of the Camaro so it would be easy for me...

Hey OP, personally I like the Vette better. I haven't driven a 6th Gen, but I traded a 5th gen 1LE for a used 14' Z51. I've DD'ed and tracked both of them. Kept the Camaro for 3 years and have had the Vette for a year. The best comparison I can make is that the 1LE = running back and the Vette = wide receiver. My 1LE was cammed, headers, intake, and tuned putting 475 on the ground while the Vette is stock(for now). The Vette feels more nimble/agile and you can feel the weight difference through the corners and starting from a dig. I miss the top end power of my Camaro, but that's nothing that the same mods won't solve on the Vette. Overall I think you'll be happy with the performance of both and it really comes down to what everyone else has already said: styling and the need of a back seat.

I've driven both and love them both. Of the pony cars, I think the Camaro is the nicest looking. If it's about price, go with what fit's your budget. I see a lot of used C7's for sale and I imagine many are due to biting off more than they could chew financially.

Two of the nicest looking rides on the road IMO.
