The order is kind of unique because I did not order the car locally or from the large volume Chevrolet dealerships. I ended up placing the order over the phone to the dealership from the town where I grew up. My father is a retired GM employee who will be celebrating his 88th birthday in May. Now he is aware that I have ordered the car and he is just as excited as I am. No one in my family has ever owned a Corvette before. They are aware that I have ordered it, but no one in my family knows what it looks like. Even the salesman that took the order stated he had never seen one quite like this one. I have always thrilled on the idea of being somewhat unique. Lets see just how close I can pick up the car on my dad's birthday.
Have enjoyed your comments leading up to your order.

Oh, I have had many comments over the years that led to my ordering a new 2019 Corvette. The original plan was to either sell or trade a car that I have owned for more than 34 years. The home town dealer would have loved to have it on trade, but we never got to the point to discuss price. I always had thought that when it came time to get rid of my car I would need something very special immediately to fall back on. A vehicle really becomes a part of you after 34 years. So, about two years ago, my car was used in a major motion picture. Now, it was only a 8 second shot in the movie ( which in real time took 8 hours that day ), but I was more proud then ever for the car. Plus, this past summer, I drove the car to the Chevy Nationals at Carlisle and won an award. So, I ended up keeping the car and spent some time adjusting the budget. So now, these two vehicles will be sharing the garage together.

The car for which I'm speaking of is a 1959 Chevrolet Impala 2 dr hdtp. with Chevrolet's very first big block, a turbo thrust 348 V8.

Now, as you can see, this car has a lot of flash. So, now some 60 years later, I am having her sister (grandmother?) built. Like I said, only the dealer knows what I ordered, but I feel like spilling the beans now. Besides, my family still does not know.

The stripes was a long and hard decision. Searching for a photo of a white with yellow stripes was nearly impossible, only what I could create on GM's website. Can't wait to see these two sitting side by side.

Beautiful Impala, I remember my uncle used to have a similar one in red/white.

Sounds interesting, especially how the white, red and yellow (stripes on waterfall) will look inside your C7. Anyway, your '19 Z06 will most likely be a 1 of 1.

Being vinyl, they are removal if you end up not liking the look.

Might need 1/8" companion stripe to match the red seats, very unique combo!

You are going to have two assume cars to enjoy. Thank goodness you didn't trade or sell the Impala - - that thing is awesome!

Congratulations and welcome to the Forum.

Absolutely beautiful car. When young and going to college I had a 1958 that I painted yellow. There weren't any yellow cars in my town as I recall but a friend had moved up from CA with a yellow 1957 Chevy. His dad owned a paint shop and he allowed me to paint my car a similar color.

I'm so glad you were able to keep that car and still get a Corvette.

I learned to drive on 1959 Impala, and it was fun car to drive, even learned how to rebuilt the generator when it failed. Thanks for the memories.

Great pic! Good luck with grandma!

A friend of mine had one just like it with bubble skirts! Recall that Continental Kit was dragging when he left a driveway!

Below is what I was driving "in the day!" Pic from school paper.

My friends dad bought him the Chevy. I paid for every penny of mine with a part time job since 15! That included the Olds engine I bought in parts for ~$10 and had bored 1/8 inches with a 3/4 cam! No money to make it look good, although today folks work hard to get that dull primer look on a Rat Rods! Mine was Pep Boys primer applied with a brush!

The name of the movie was "Loving". Near the end of the movie, you can see my car parked out in the street in front of the Supreme Court.

That is one purty Impala!

I doubt I could have traded her in too.

As many have said, congrats and welcome!

These are the threads that show passion for a 'car' that don't seem to exist elsewhere.

Fantastic Impala! Glad you didn't have to trade or sell it in order to get your new Vette.

You will love the Vette.
