I am wondering why the tach is yellow from 3500-4500 and then red after that.

It will go away after 500 miles, just cautioning you to take it easy till then

I think yellow is "caution" and red is "do not go there" whether in the first 500 miles or when cold, etc. It will go away when it is ok to rev the engine that high.

Two situations for yellow. First mileage has not reached the 500 mile range for the so called official breakin period.
Second engine has not reached programmed operating temperature yet.

As others noted-
Once you are past the break in period, the lower yellow/red band will go away as the engine warms up each drive.

My question is, what controls the disappearing yellow/red? My oil temp is still pretty low, maybe 120'f, when the yellow and red are gone; that seems way too cool for the engine to go full throttle or rpm.

I'm just asking the person who posted "3rdly,it is all in the owners manual" to tell me where it is in the manual. I have checked numerous times and cannot find any reference to it.

If it is 174 you must have a different manual than the one I have.

Funny thing about a forum- you aren't required to comment on a post. This forum has gotten so toxic.
